October 11, 201213 yr While taking a break from moving to a new city ( long story) went around the block to check out a few stores that were Downtown.    Pawn Shop:   A few power tools, not much else.   Two "Thrift stores": one was open....LOTS of clothes.   Second one wasn't open until NOON!   Looked in the windows, more clothes... Went on another block, wandered into an Antique Store.    Nose started to itch ( uh-oh!!!)  Yep, back in the corner, something was RUSTY!     Found a large wooden chest that had five handsaws in the bottom.  Price tags.   TWENTY BUCKS????   EACH???  Ah, NO!    Up on a shelf sat a wood bodied Stanley, looked like a small Jack plane, maybe a foot long.   Price?  $12.00  Hmm, maybe... Looked beside the jack to find a small block plane.    Price?  FORTY DOLLARS!!!! For a Block plane?    Come on, I spent $6 for a block plane just like that one last month....Just a small Sargent Block plane.     May go back for the Stanley Woodie, but the rest???   Nope. October 11, 201213 yr Author When a brand new in the "box" Stanley/ Bailey can be had for about $31.00 + tax.   I still might go back for the wood bodied plane.   Looks like a nice little Jack plane size.   But I don't work at one of the HONDA plants around here, so $40.00 for a block plane is out of the question.   And those $20.00 handsaws?   I could go out and by a brand new irwin, or Stanley for half of that, even with tax.  I may just take a few things along the next time I go in there.....Sign on pick up truck's back window..:' Save a Horse, ride a Cowboy'
