October 15, 201213 yr Good week all! It's Monday and we all know what that means! Welcome to our Woodcraft Magazine Quiz! This weeks quiz will be extrapolated from our Oct/Nov issue 2012. And up for grabs is a cool plan to build a neat little box to keep and protect your chisels courtesy of our friends at Woodcraft! So without further adieu, the question! We use this trick in our finishing to remove dust nibs and specs from our finish. What is it? John MorrisThe Patriot WoodworkerProud Supporter of Wounded Warrior Project and Homes For Our Troops
October 15, 201213 yr Page 33 bottom of page, 2nd & 3rd paragraph. "REMOVING TRAPPED DUST, INSECTS OR OTHER DEBRIS" If finish is wet pick out debris using a toothpick or better yet a dental pick or needle (Photo H). If finish has started to set, let dry completely, and then sand away offending material. In this case I dry sand with 400 grit "P GRADE" sand paper.... As before feather out the area to help hide the repair. Then apply another coat of finish.Page 74 bottom of page. Paper bag trick. try rubbing the last coat with a piece of brown paper bag.as long as finish is thoroughly dry the paper will level dust nibs without scratching the surface.www.thepatriotwoodworker.com Proud Supporter of Homes For Our Troops

October 20, 201213 yr Author Looks like we accidentally stumped the woodworkers on this one!The answer we were looking for was on pg 74, the tip is called "Paper Bag Trick".Rub out your final finish with a brown paper bag, the paper is finer then #0000 steel wool and has abrasive quality's.I go a step further and add a little mineral spirits to my paper bag and then commence to rubbing the project.Stay tuned for next weeks quiz folks!!!By the way, just goes to show ya guys, just because it looks like someone has the correct answer, does not mean they do! You should delve in deeper to find out if they truly have the correct answer! Good try Mike, very good try!John MorrisThe Patriot WoodworkerProud Supporter of Wounded Warrior Project and Homes For Our Troops
