Do You Use Grain Filler?

Featured Replies

I use grain filler for my oak tops and usually use Brantley filler but it is hard to find.  Therefore, I'm in the market for a different type.  I'm reluctant to use water based filler but I'm open for anything at this point.  So, here's the question, "What brand of grain filler do you use?"

Mohawk brand is what I've used. Both Crystalac and TimberMate have great reviews but are water based.

I do not use any fillers - but - that is my choice when doing my scrolling.  Want the feel and touch of the grain.

I haven't used fillers, but most of the things with some open grain I spray with Shellac. I do enough coats to give it a smooth finish before putting the Varnish on top of that.

But I would be interested in what is out there and what most people like to use and how they use it.
