I've been assigned at my day job to construct an awards sign/bulletin board so to speak. Not sure what you call it. It will live at our administration build.

The plan

Start with cardboard mock up.

Make template for cuting the top of the sign

Cutout some parts

Back side of sing, note the near the top the plwood is angled to be used as a french cleat

Some laminate work

More laminate work and laying out the glass panels.

A jig to hold the panels in place for drilling and attaching.

Wow, very nice Rich and I love the way you document the steps and the process. Going to look very nice. Will you be doing the lettering on top in wood or will it be stenciled and painted on?

My notes just say " lettering priced separately". I assume it's going to a professional sing shop or perhaps the school district print shop. I'm not really sure at this point.

Rich, I have always envied your job. Great work my friend. I don't know if you remember me telling you, but I worked in a carpenter facilities maintenance shop for Sea World of San Diego, and we got to do a lot of work like this, odds n ends and crafty projects, all the way to nice cabinet work for our office areas, store displays, roofing, hanging doors, you name it, if wood was in it, we did it. I miss those days after seeing your work in your district shop. I think it's a district shop right?

What a great job you have Rich, thanks for sharing.

Can’t wait for them to be done.

Keep us posted and best of luck.
