October 19, 201213 yr Middle of October finds me just as busy in the shop as I have been. I finished up the Green Egg Table last night and started a Wood Scrapbook Cover. Didn't have an short brass screws so I will finish it today when I run home at lunch. Got the second Green Egg table underway and hope it will get finished and delivered on Saturday and then on to finishing the third of the Porch Swings and start the glue ups for a Cedar Chest. Here is the Green Egg Table before the hold cut for the Green Egg Ceramic Smoker to sit in. And after the hole is cut. This one will get delivered this afternoon when I get home from work. For now they don't want a finish and let it weather, but I think they will change their minds. There are supports under the shelf below the hole and a concrete paver is placed on the lower shelf for the bottom of the Egg to sit on. So what are you working on this weekend. We here at TPW like to see what others are doing, you we have an inquiring mind. Share with us your weekend agenda and pictures of your projects. Let us know if you are working in your shop, home improvement, yard work, HDL, or just some good ole family time with some R&R. Â This is my post for Breast Cancer Awareness for this Month! October 19, 201213 yr Looking good John!I'm trying to finish up three deer antler bolt action pens. 2 are for a coworker and 1 is for my sons birthday coming up next week. It's slow going cause I have to stop turning once in a while to saturate the antler with CA but so far they are looking very nice. I'll post pics when done.www.thepatriotwoodworker.com Proud Supporter of Homes For Our Troops
October 19, 201213 yr Charles, the boys love their pens. Kevin, the son in Okinawa, said that Japanese customs did open the package to insure it wasn't a real cartridge. I'm sorta at a standstill on the latest project, a briefcase to hold pistols. I broke my router lift and I'm waiting on parts. Maybe I'll clean the shop and rearrange my lumber storage rooms. October 22, 201213 yr looks like a lot more fun than I was having today. Nice weather for the game though.http://www.prchestnut.webs.com/
October 22, 201213 yr Author Congratulations on the win Ron. Looks like you all had a great time. The Green Egg table or as Fred referred to it "the picnic table with a hole" got picked up this weekend and the customer was excited. I guess they like picnic tables with holes. As I understand, they already have the green egg nested in the table and may have already cooked on it this weekend. They are sending me a picture with the Egg in the table so I will post when I get it. Got started on the second Green Egg table Saturday afternoon. All the lumber has been cut to rough length and widths and flatten on the jointer and then run through the planer. Just need to square up the edges and put this one together and get it out the door this week. Upper shelf, lower shelf, legs, end pieces and the support for the top and shelves. Man does the shop have a cedar smell right now. When this is finished, it is back to the porch swings and start putting together another cedar chest. Finally getting back up to speed. Hope your weekend was good and you got to work on all of your projects. Give us an update on how you did this weekend. You know pictures are nice. October 23, 201213 yr John, funny you should say that. Â Talked to a guy this past weekend that lined a closet with cedar and did not put any finish in the closet. Â Told me the "aroma" just about drove he and his wife out of the house ! ! ! Â Even after putting a single coat of finish the "aroma" was still really strong. Â Said he might have made a mistake for lining the entire closet with aromatic cedar.John Moody said:Thanks Phil, the cedar smell is pretty strong right now. October 23, 201213 yr Author You can smell it outside just walking up to the shop right now. I think it smells good but it is certainly strong. I'm not sure I would want a large closet completely lined. John MoodySite AdministratorJohn Moody Woodworkshttp://www.johnmoodywoodworks.com
