October 20, 201213 yr  Here are 3 Bolt Action Pens with Deer Antler barrels. The two in the back and are chrome plating and are sold. The 1 in front is Gunmetal plating and that's for my sons birthday next week.  The kits I bought from Exotic Blanks and the antler came from my stock. For those that haven't turned any antler, it is a tedious process. As I progress through the turning I have to stop and flood the blank with CA and is time consuming. I really like how these turned out. The pics don't do them justice but the barrels are highly polished and are like glass.  The mechanism is very smooth and I think better than the standard click mechanism. If you get a chance to turn one try one they're well worth the cost and effort.  I also took the pics with my phone and my shop built light box, I'll have to try our digital camera with the box but the batteries are drained at the moment. Pics are front and back! Thanks for viewing, comments welcome. www.thepatriotwoodworker.com Proud Supporter of Homes For Our Troops

October 20, 201213 yr Author Thank you Lewis!  I built mine from white translucent plexiglass. Here is the link where I got the idea & instructions from. http://content.penturners.org/library/techniques/pen_photography.pdf It's a PDF file and in the article it has some great info on photography, staging, background material and the construction of the light box. For now I just used a light that I use on my lathe but I will get some light fixtures and the bulbs specified in the article and the pics will be much better.Lewis Kauffman said:These are gorgeous!!Sometime, could you post a pix of your light box?
