Can you have to many clamps on hand?

Featured Replies

My wife seems to think I have lost my mind over buying clamps of different sizes and types. Any time I am anywhere that has clamps to sell. You will find me looking them over hoping to find that one clamp that I could have used om my last project. It's not like I have a lot of clamps to begin with. Most of the stuff I had was lost a few years ago when my shop I had at the time was broken into.

I was lucky they left a few old hand tools and my old craftsman band saw. I never really tried to replace things. I had moved and had lost the old shed that was my shop. But time has passed and I have moved on with life, I found my self always coming back to wanting to make things from wood. Then my grandson some how got me to build him a cookie tin banjo. From that point on I started my road back to wood working. Being disabled I don't have the money I did when I was working. also no longer have that discount I had for working for Sears, so slowly I have been adding tools when I can and finding ways round things when I don't have the right tools at the time.

I can't say my wife has ever said no, unless the check book was low on me buying a new tool ever so often. It's just that she does not and for some reason can't understand my need for clamps. or my need for a drill press. I just chuckle to myself as I load a few new clamps into the cart knowing it going to be a never ending battle, and hope she does not see the small set of brad-point bits hiding in there until it's to late.

Nope you can't have too many clamps.

ning-shop7-22226-69.jpgSince the picture was taken, I have put a clamp rack under that table and all of the pipe clamps are now stored there. I have also added about 10 more of them and probably that many more of the quick grip clamps.

You just have to keep adding to them.

If you find that the number of clamps you have prevents bringing in another tool or project then you need a larger shop, but no you cant have too many clamps!
