October 23, 201213 yr Author Here is the gauge after alodining. Alodining is similar to Anodizing, the difference is Alodine is a chemical process where Anodizing is an electrical process. They both harden the surface of the metal to prevent corrosion. Aldine is much cheaper than Anodizing. The depth of penetration and the degree of color is dependent on the time the metal is left in the solution. Once the desired penetration is achieved rinse the part in water to stop the reaction process. www.thepatriotwoodworker.com Proud Supporter of Homes For Our Troops

December 1, 201213 yr This particular one works best on 1.25 to 1.5" square stock and it is great I have no trouble getting it to center when I stay in that size range.
