October 23, 201213 yr ok now. how do you all find the time to get your shop time in and still read and respond to posts?I'm going to the sop at 6:00 in the morning to do a quick glue up or two before heading to the full time job by 7:00. after leaving the FT job I'm back in the shop at 4:30 usually working until 10:00 before heading in to grab a bite, shower and some shut eye before doing the whole routine the next day. add in that I bowl at our Elks lodge on wednesday evenings and I'm wondering why I haven't put myself into a coma yet. October 23, 201213 yr Well for me I don't have a full time job, so I just spend time in my shop area (My living room), which is about 10-12ft from my desk around the corner. This allows me to check for messages and responses to posts when on my way to the restroom which is right next to my desk. If I am really busy doing something, I'll just put off any non urgent posts or messages til later in the evening. Otherwise I can and often do respond to them then.Charles NichollsSite Hostnicholls61@att.netProud supporter of The Wounded Warrior Project, Homes For Our Troops and the NRAhttp://www.etsy.com/shop/nichollswoodworks

October 23, 201213 yr Early in the morning, after I come in from the shop at night and when I can get a moment to check it from my Droid or iPad. Sometimes my wife drives and I check and answer questions while we are on the road. When I sit down for lunch I grab the iPad and take a quick look to see what is new.Pretty much anytime I can get a minute or two.John MoodySite AdministratorJohn Moody Woodworkshttp://www.johnmoodywoodworks.com
October 23, 201213 yr I'm retired. Time has lost a lot of it's urgency and relevance. I only hurry to assemble before the glue sets. Gene'The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him.' G. K. Chesterton

October 23, 201213 yr Author so it sounds like the best thing would be to retire but not let anyone know . The problem with this idea is I have 20 years to wait unless our economy doesn't improve then it might be 40 years Round Barn WoodCrafts, Plymouth WIroundbarnwoodcrafts@hotmail.com
October 23, 201213 yr John if you didn't bowl you'd have even more shop time, so get out there mister and get to creating...LOL!I work full time as well but you fit the shop time in where you can. A lot of shop time can be achieved just in the level of efficiency that one has in the project set up and execution. For myself when turning pens I'll use a batch method, by cutting several blanks and gluing them up they are prepped and ready to go when I get time to turn them. I fit that time in such as while glue is curing on another project. Of course that doesn't always work due to other factors but I seem to accomplish that process about 40% of the time. www.thepatriotwoodworker.com Proud Supporter of Homes For Our Troops

October 24, 201213 yr Ron and Larry keep going on about this retirement so I am looking forward to joining them in the near future. I hope I only have three more years to have to work. Then I am going to worry them to death! Dorothy is such a good cook and hostess I may take the RV back up there for two months the next time!John MoodySite AdministratorJohn Moody Woodworkshttp://www.johnmoodywoodworks.com
