October 27, 201213 yr Larry, what a unique one here! I don't believe I have seen one where the segments are broken and spaced, that is way cool. How did you get the segments spaced like that?John MorrisThe Patriot WoodworkerProud Supporter of Wounded Warrior Project and Homes For Our Troops

October 27, 201213 yr Very nice segmented bowl Larry. I bet that was neat turning with the spaces in it. I love the Koa wood.John MoodySite AdministratorJohn Moody Woodworkshttp://www.johnmoodywoodworks.com
October 27, 201213 yr Author I use a Incra Jig to cut the pieces on the table saw, then a homemade jig to glue up the blank. Â The largest that I've made so far has been 16" diameter and 8" tall, with 500+ piecesJohn Morris said:Larry, what a unique one here! October 27, 201213 yr Welcome to the forum Larry, the best way to get a image to us is just to upload it here by using the blue icon next to the LINK button on the reply page. then we all can see it here on this thread Great looking bowl, I was beginning to wonder if you had a drill press that drilled square holes There is a jig or a press that actually does that. October 27, 201213 yr Author Probably more than I would care to admit....it takes more time to cut the segments and glue up the blank than it does to do the turning and finishing. As for the actual time, conservatively speaking, probably about 15 hours, more or less. Â I've got one that I turned that was 16" diameter and 10" tall, with more than 500 pieces. Â That one took a total of 30 hours. Â Ron Dudelston said:Cool Larry. October 28, 201213 yr Author The turning is the same as any other turning, fairly easy. Â The difficult thing is to glue up the blank. Â It takes a lot of time...Phil Chestnut said:very nice looking bowl. I can't image how you would turn that thinghttp://www.prchestnut.webs.com/
