October 30, 201213 yr Working hard trying to get a few projects caught up. Green Egg Table #2 is ready for the hole to be cut, final sanding and a finish to be applied. Got the frame finished last Thursday but was out of the shop all weekend. Top is now on and so it the bottom shelf. Wheels are mounted to the bottom of the post and all four wheels lock. Bottom shelf it now attached. Should get the trammel arm attached to the router tonight and get the hole cut. One more down and then on to a few other project that have been sitting for a while. Got a Cedar Chest to finish while I am working with the cedar and then back to the porch swings and finish up the last three of those. October 30, 201213 yr I really like your table design. Very simple and practical. Here in So. Calif. I don't see many folks using the charcoal grills like you do in other parts of the country a it is pretty much gas/propane grills here. So the "Green Egg" out here is just typically a Dr. Seuss thing that goes with ham for the most part. But I do like the concept of the table and I am sure that you do well selling those. Just looking at the cost of cedar like you are using would pretty much break the bank for me out here if I was to make them. As was asked above, have you figured out a finish yet?Allen WorshamCorona, CAallenworsham@earthlink.net'Graze in every man's field, but always give your own milk' J. October 30, 201213 yr Author Allen, I really like the product you suggested on the other thread for the first table. I am trying to find someone local, but it appears I am going to have to order it.Actually the cedar it not a bad cost. It works out pretty good.John MoodySite AdministratorJohn Moody Woodworkshttp://www.johnmoodywoodworks.com

November 1, 201213 yr Author Thanks Rich, they are not fine furniture and certainly not to the level of the desk you have been working on, but they are good sturdy outdoor grill tables.Richard McComas said:Looking good John, looking very sturdy also. Somewhere in Kenya.... a village is missing its idiot! November 2, 201213 yr Author Thanks Phil, just need to cut the hole for the egg to sit in. Probably not going to happen N till Saturday. Been finishing cutting boards tonight for a show tomorrow night.
November 5, 201213 yr Author Got the Green Egg Table finished and delivered. I ask them to send me a picture once they put the egg in the table. I will give you all an update when that happens. It was such a nice day here, I rolled it outside and made a few pictures. The dimensions are on the official Green Egg Table site. There are three different size Green Eggs and they give the size of the hole based on the size egg you have. It also give the distance for the lower shelf based on the size Egg you have. I have found a few minor errors in the plans, but they are pretty easy to see and change. I believe the next ones I do I will mortise and tenon the top rails into the legs and use pocket screws on the slats for the top and shelf from the bottom so you don't see any screws in the table. Even though it is an outdoor table, I think it will make it look a lot cleaner. John MoodySite AdministratorJohn Moody Woodworkshttp://www.johnmoodywoodworks.com
