Good show, Grizzly - wish I could afford some of your stuff.  This retirement stuff is great except for the financial situation.  [grin here]

Move over guys anouther one wanting to have room to drool over Grizzly's too. I remember a time when I wish I could retire and have the time to do the things I all wanted too. Now I have the time but they never told me there would not be any money.

Thats why I rebuild the old clunkers, and I'm having a hard time trying to afford doing that.

You guys are depressing me about the problems of retirement. You are suppose to make me want to retire kinda like talking a young man into marriage.

I love the Grizzly catalog. When there is nothing on TV, (which is most of the time). I like to sit down and just thumb through the catalog. I did get the 15" planner from there and I love it.

They way you are all talking I guess I better buy up all the tools now before I retire in three years.

Not sure anyone can afford to retire especially after they raise our taxes.  And not sure we can afford the new tools either.

If I listen to SS, I have to wait 3 years to get full benefits.  Right now I'm soooo tire of working and looking at how to take early retirement and still be able to afford it.  May have to what Larry said.  Can repair old clunkers but nothing after 1980.  That about when they started installing all those computerize junk in them.  Do have an advantage.  My wife can keep working.  She is younger than this old man.

hey John ,just got the new catalog the other day,I never had one before and was surprised at the huge number of their tools are branded made in taiwan. I admire them for being honest and giving us the country of origan on those tools but why not on all their tools? I would like to know if any are made in USA and try to by those if I could. is taiwan considered a better manufacturer than china? i cant help but remember the socket sets of the 70 s that seemed to be made out of case hardened fudge and came from taiwan.I really hate that so many other companies(All) dont ever tell you in catalogs and online where the product came from.Idont know if its true or not but I read on one site that it was legal to put a sticker on anyything that says made in USA if the sticker was made in USA the world gets a Little scarier every day!

Tim, there a quite a few good machines coming out of Taiwan these days, and the factories that are putting out those machines are under close scrutiny by the brand that is on the machine. Grizzly deals with ISO 9000 factories only, here is a link describing ISO 9000. Anymore, if there is a good brand name on a Taiwan Made machine, your going to have a good machine compared to what you saw 15 plus years ago. Taiwan is becoming synonymous with good quality these days, and when you couple that with a reliable brand such as Grizzly, you have a good machine.

Now that being said, I agree with you, buy USA! I try to. I love to. I have vowed to. And sometimes I wander away from my vows. Lately though I have had a dream to have old Made in the USA heavy metal in my shop. I am all over the place on this sometimes as you can read. But I agree, support our American worker, it's how we are going to get our country back on track.

As far as Taiwan better then China, you bet. There is a major obvious difference, the castings are rough, the precision, the fit and finish is less then good, and your never sure if your getting good cast iron, or pot metal.

And Made in the USA, well here is an interesting article about Made in the USA at the FTC website, and one well known toolmaker's violation of the act. FTC Alleges Stanley Made False Made in the USA Claims About Its Tools.
And here is the FTC manuals on Made In The USA compliance. Click HERE and scroll down to Education Material.
It's a crazy world today Tim! Even our beloved Powermatic machinery is questionable anymore if it's Made in the USA. I don't know anymore.
