November 30, 201213 yr I just glad I don't have Pics of the one I made years ago. the windows where not that good. I used the ends of over 2000+ tung depresseer ends to make a shingled roof.http://www.prchestnut.webs.com/
November 30, 201213 yr Author 2000 tongue depressors? That's a lot of tongue.I've made the clapboards for the siding already. I have a box of roofing shingles that I made up on the BS, but I suspect it'll be insufficient.I'm torn between coloring the shingles with alcohol soluble black aniline dye or just painting them after installing them.Reason I'm torn is that I don't know if the alcohol soluble dye will need a top coat to prevent it from leaching out onto things that touch the shingles but I'm sure the look will be better than painting because the paint will have flaws where the light pine will show through cracks. Benjamin Moore has a flat polyurethane they call it Flat(424) They have a water soluble they call "Stays Clear Acrylic Polyurethane - Flat (425)"I've never seen these finishes applied so I don't know how it'll look.
