November 30, 201213 yr Here we are the last day of November and ready for the first weekend of December. Wow has this year flown by. Lots of things happening in the past year and a fairly busy year in the shop. I know you all get tired of me posting them, but they have really kept me busy this year. Hear are a few cutting boards I finished last night to be ready to increase my inventory as I have a show to do tomorrow and one next Friday night. That will end my shows for the year and then to try to catch up on projects. And I have a few blanks for bread trays glued up that will get finished tonight. And in the wait times on glue I got a few pens turned, but didn't get pictures of them. Maybe later. So that's what is happening in my shop, what are your plans this weekend. Are you woodworking, finishing up Christmas projects, home improvement, HDL or watching the SEC championship like me with anxious eyes toward playing the Irish in the Nation Championship Game? We here at TPW are always interested in what you are working on, so please share you project pictures with us. I am waiting to see what you all are doing. November 30, 201213 yr I finished up and installed the valance over our sliding door in the bedroom and got the Christmas decorations up this week. We have at least 2 Christmas parties and 1 family gathering in December and may have 1 or 2 more. The only gift that I plan on making is for my wife which is a "Tea Box" that she requested. She loves tea and has about 8 different types sitting on the counter in their separate boxes. So when we were out last week doing some shopping we looked at a few kitchen/home places to see what kinds of things that they had to get some ideas. She started out just wanting a box with some dividers in it, but then saw a drawer storage made to fit those single serving "Keurig Single Cup" coffee dispensers and she really liked the drawer concept of having a drawer and the flat top to put other things on so the countertop can be more useable. So I have been looking online to find something to go by and found one design that fits the bill. So I hope to get things figured out this weekend and dig through my lumber supply to see what I have on hand or if I have to go buy some for this project. Then I can start on it next week. Below are photos of the Keurig one we saw and then the tea tray/drawer that I found. Allen WorshamCorona, CAallenworsham@earthlink.net'Graze in every man's field, but always give your own milk' J. December 2, 201213 yr John, I'm in recovery mode. We got home late last night from a week in Disney World. While I was there, I caught a bug thet left me a bit achey and Tuesday night we rode Space Mountain and it has really gone downhill. It was really rough and my back has ached all week. I rode the Rock and Roller Coaster on Sunday and it was very fast and very smooth. All in all the old timer is laying around.Ron DudelstonSite AdministratorAbove and Beyond WoodWorks
December 2, 201213 yr Glad you made it back safe Ron, grab a fav beverage and lay around then. I'll think of you while I'm making my woodchips. Rest easy. I know I need to lay down shortly myself. Have so much to do though Ron Dudelston said: John, I'm in recovery mode. All in all the old timer is laying around. December 2, 201213 yr Ron, You survived! The travel alone would be enough to put me down for a while. Bet you enjoyed every minute, though.Allen, That looks like a neat project. But, you might need two drawers for all the wife's teas. :-) Good wood hunting!Phil, Sounds like you are going to be a busy Santa right up till the big day. How about a build blog on this one, too? A step by step on how you build your dulcimers would be quite interesting. John, Your work ethic is an inspiration to this old man. Waiting for glue or finish to dry is my excuse to take a break. My wife says my breaks are longer than my work time. I fear she's right, too. :-(I did get the bullet block and dividers installed. The lid is hinged, too. I was going to make wood hinges and had them cut and ready for the brass rod. Then I chickened out. After all the work I put in to this project, I was just too scared to cut into the lid to inlay the hinges. So, it's just a mundane brass piano hinge. I'll save the hinges for something else.Today, it's drilling for the handle posts and the locking latches and finish sanding. Tomorrow the first coat of Watco. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Gene'The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him.' G. K. Chesterton
