December 3, 201213 yr Read on another WW forum that Triton is in receivership and Kreg MIGHT be taking over.No confirmation....Rumor only. December 3, 201213 yr Thanks for the heads up Gene. I own two Triton routers. They are very good and negate the need for a lift when mounted in a table. I hope Kreg continues to support and manufacture these router.www.thepatriotwoodworker.com Proud Supporter of Homes For Our Troops
December 3, 201213 yr Me too, I have only heard good about Triton, let's hope Kreg keeps em going, no reason no to. It's not like Kreg is buying up another Pocket Screw competitor. December 4, 201213 yr Author My SCMS is a Triton. Good tool.Don't own a Triton router. I too, hope Kreg does well with it...that is if what I hear is true. I was on Triton's web site when I was researching the SCMS a few years ago. It seems to me that they had a marketing problem. At least in the US. Their tools, at least their routers, have a good reputation but, that might not have been enough. Sad.Gene'The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him.' G. K. Chesterton
December 4, 201213 yr Hmmm. THat may be a gbad news good news kinda thind. Triton makes a quality tool and I'd hate to see them out of the marketplace but Kreg also has a very high quality standard and are definately and "up and comer." This one will be interesting to watch.Ron DudelstonSite AdministratorAbove and Beyond WoodWorksRon DudelstonSite AdministratorAbove and Beyond WoodWorks
January 4, 201313 yr I own their big dog router. It works OK but is an unsophisticated beast with too much plastic and a lot of very poor engineering.I've had it for a few years and used it a fair bit. The bearings are getting noisy. My next big router will probably be the Milwaukee.Triton is probably a good fit for Kreg. I bet they think that their marketing, which is more robust than Triton ever had, will enable them to sell more products than Triton did without them having to make the products any better.Â
