December 5, 201213 yr Over the years I have had 6 or 7 shop tips published. I quit when I realized that they made some big bucks and only paid me $25. One of my tips made their all time best tips. Another was picked up and used to make a new tool.So I quit sending them. I just submitted another one but I had a good reason. No one will make any money off of it and it is something most wood workers can use. I submitted it to Shop Notes. When you are sanding away on your belt sander or other sanding tool, the belt/disk will clog up. You don't have to buy one of those belt cleaners for about 8 bucks. Just get an old tong, flip flop (footware) and use the sole. It cleans a belt right up. The residue collects just like a thick saw dust would. Use a mask as you always should when sanding. It is free and your are re-purposing a material that would end up in a land fill.Â

December 6, 201213 yr I hope my wife doesn't notice them missing from the closet. Of course it will give her an excuse to just buy more of them. A win win for both, sanding belts get clean, she gets more new shoes.John MoodySite AdministratorJohn Moody Woodworkshttp://www.johnmoodywoodworks.com
