December 6, 201213 yr Ahh, my first whole week off (at least so far) since forever, it seems. So here's the weekly post for the woodturner's group. The new Woodcraft catalog came today and I see there is an ad for a new chuck from Easy Wood Tools. This looks like a really well made chuck- made in the good old U.S. of A. What make it different from most chucks is that the jaws can be changed without removing screws. Also, the closing/opening mechanism is made easier by the "Zoom Ring"- similar to a machining lathe chuck. Only the final tightening has to be done with the hex chuck key. There are current three different jaw sizes available. The Woodcraft catalog number is 154689. I haven't tried this chuck, but if it is as well made as Easy Wood's other tools it should be a worth while investment. If anyone is in the Atlanta, Georgia area, Highland Woodworking is having a woodturning class on making pepper mills. The class is on December 9. December 6, 201213 yr Thanks for posting this Lew. I saw the ad but didn't get to look through it yet. I noticed the new chuck and was interested in how it worked. I like the idea of changing the faces without removing the screws. I have several chucks just for the reason of putting a set of faces on it and not changing them. This would be nice to not had to invest so much in so many chucks just because I am lazy and hate spending the time to change out faces.Got to look into that one further..John MoodySite AdministratorJohn Moody Woodworkshttp://www.johnmoodywoodworks.com
