December 9, 201213 yr If you are like me (and hopefully you're not), I still miss Saturday mornings with Norm. Although I taped almost every show, now I need to burn them on DVD's. Anyway, came across this link to You Tube that has more links many of the older shows-Enjoy!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-4tzRpyV3gLew Kauffman-Wood Turners Forum HostTime traveler. December 9, 201213 yr Thanks for the link Lew.I was a Norm junkie for years.I just keep hammering away.
December 9, 201213 yr Nah I don't miss Norm with all his tons of tools or bob villa with his ridiculously low priced home makeovers.I do miss the woodwrights shop though.
December 9, 201213 yr Woodwrights on still, or am I seeing re-runs only?dragon1 said:Nah I don't miss Norm with all his tons of tools or bob villa with his ridiculously low priced home makeovers.I do miss the woodwrights shop though.John MorrisThe Patriot WoodworkerProud Supporter of Homes For Our Troops and Wounded Warriors Project
December 9, 201213 yr Woodwright's shop last three seasons, PLUS current season are on pbs.org.   Just type in The Woodwright"s Shop, and follow along. Just watched a bench build, ala Norm.  Then started the one about a steamer trunk.   Yep, Bookmarked that site!Sign on pick up truck's back window..:' Save a Horse, ride a Cowboy'
December 10, 201213 yr used enjoy watching them both. still catch the Woodwrights from time to time.http://www.prchestnut.webs.com/
December 10, 201213 yr He's doing his "New Yankee Workshop" thing. He is selling his complete set of 210 show videos too. It's a steal at just under Three Grandhttp://www.newyankee.com/index.php?id=53#ecwid:mode=product&product=10708069
December 10, 201213 yr Had the check written then said......naw. Maybe I can talk the library into ordering a set. Not a bad price considering you get six autographed pictures of Norm. :-)Gene'The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him.' December 10, 201213 yr Yea, I miss it too and have a lot of the shows on tape and DVD. I love all of the tools he had and would love to have a shop outfitted that way. It is very interesting to look back at the old show such as the one you linked. You can certainly see that he does not have the shop setup like it was in the end.I know I learned a lot of technique from the way he did things. I wish is was back on TV.You can catch one video a week at the New Yankee Web Site.John MoodySite AdministratorJohn Moody Woodworkshttp://www.johnmoodywoodworks.com
December 11, 201213 yr Norm had a great show but I must say I enjoy the Woodsmith show more than the rest of the shows that are out there now. Most of their projects and techniques can be made with what I consider to be a basic power tool shop with some hand tools as well. My biggest beef is with the PBS channel. It seems like every month there's a weekend long fund raiser with lousy shows during the fundraiser. I wish they had actual woodworking shows on the DIY network. At one time they used to have several but those have gone away.www.thepatriotwoodworker.com Proud Supporter of Homes For Our Troops
December 11, 201213 yr I liked Tommy Mac, the boy from southie. I haven't seen David Marks. Norm bored me. I didn't find his projects interesting nor did I learn anything watching him"Just a couple of brads while the glue dries"Uh huh sure, ever seen him remove one of those brads?Scott Phillips tends not to do things that impress me.  His shaker chair was interesting. I do like the way he presents his lathe tools to the observer. He breaks down the stupid simple ( and necessary) things that you would not figure out very easily without some instruction.I still think Norm would have beat Marks into the dirt in a street fight.
December 12, 201213 yr Notice: Youtube has shut down the link to those videos.     Somebody squealed???Sign on pick up truck's back window..:' Save a Horse, ride a Cowboy'
December 13, 201213 yr youtube has shut down the link to those videos.     Somebody squealed??? Wouldn't take anyone reaching out to the copyright holder. If the copyright holder/s want to protect their property they would be scrupulous about scanning the internet for any mention of the names and phrases that are idiomatic to their property.  So the mere fact of this thread may have popped up on a search and led to the action. Those searches are often run automatically by firms specializing in internet security, alerting someone the same way an alarm clock alerts to the time. Can't make a living on your work if other people are giving your efforts away free.
