December 16, 201213 yr Author Well darn it. It's an old, cast iron rabetting plane. Seller says it a Craftsman. There is no fence or place that one would go. Here is a similar one. Gene'The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him.' G. K. January 10, 201313 yr Gene, it's hard to tell with the sample you gave, condition is everything and the original image is too small to tell condition. Can you give a description of wear on it? Gene Howe said: Well darn it. January 10, 201313 yr Author This is picture is one I found on line. My son bought the one that was for sale and gave it to me for Christmas. It doesn't have the fence, either. Other than that, it's in excellent condition. Gene'The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him.' G. K. Chesterton
January 11, 201313 yr the fence is there, right below it.It's attached to that piece coming out from the left side. Does it have a full set of cutters with it?Â
January 11, 201313 yr  These had just one cutter, about like a handplanes.   Lever cap and iron, though, stick out to one side.    Biggest thing to look for, after the fence, is a "Depth Stop" , and a "Spur".    Both would be one the right side as you look down the handle. Spur is held in place with a bolt.   A Thumbscrew sets the depth stop.    You can also set the iron and lever cap out in front, to act like a "Bullnose" plane. There should be a lever < on the newer ones, that adjusts the depth of cut of the iron itself. Should be right behind the cutter, near the handle.Sign on pick up truck's back window..:' Save a Horse, ride a Cowboy'
