December 19, 201213 yr comment_19695 My grandson is taking guitar lessons and don't have a good place to store his instrument. I did a web search on guitar stands and saw one made by Taylor, that I liked. I drew up some rough sketches and went for it. There are quite a few angle cuts and I like the way it came out. It will be one of my woodworking Christmas gifts to him. It is about 24" high and I made it to fit his guitar. Taylor had their name painted in large letters where I painted my grandson's name which is spelled one letter different. Report

December 20, 201213 yr Author comment_19699 I believe it is red Oak. I was at a local Home Depot and was sorting through their scrap wood pile when I spotted 3 nice Oak boards that had been put with the scrap wood. It had to be a mistake, but was clearly labeled at 51 cents per board. I got 3 boards about 4 feet long and 6" wide for $1,53, Â They were perfect for this project. Yes, I still visit the scrap pile when ever I go there. Report
December 20, 201213 yr comment_19698 Wow that is so cool no matter what you paid for the wood, but what a bargain. I never think to look there when I am in home depot. Was this a design you came up with? I really like it. I have a couple of friends that play and those would be nice gifts.John MoodySite AdministratorJohn Moody Woodworkshttp://www.johnmoodywoodworks.com Report

December 21, 201213 yr Author comment_19696 Â I looked at google images of guitar stands and saw this design. It is made by and sold by the Tayler co. Â I knew if they could make it...................I could too. I have never made anything to sell, I make for family and friends. I have turned down offers.John Moody said:Wow that is so cool no matter what you paid for the wood, but what a bargain.
