December 20, 201213 yr Well Christmas is almost here. Most of us have just about all of our projects completed and the finishes should be dry in time for the big day. Time to start thinking about next year's projects!! I've seen a bunch of cutting boards displayed this year and that got me to thinking about other similar projects. A properly designed cutting board could just as easily be a chess board. But, what about the pieces? Could they be made on the lathe? It turns out they can! I found instructions and patterns for lathe turned pieces- here-Â http://www.shopsmithhandson.com/archives/nov_dec00/html/money_maker.htm The pieces look relatively easy to produce- The site provides additional turning/construction tips for the various pieces. I can envision beautifully crafted pieces, from exotic woods, marching about on walnut and maple squares. Safe turning and Merry Christmas to all Patriot members and their families. Please don't forget our military men and women home and abroad this holiday season. Their sacrifices have given us the freedom to celebrate this holiday.
