December 22, 201213 yr  Back in the early 80s, the "Better Half" decided that I should make a sewing box.    So, I gather a few scraps of Oak, a few chunks of 3/4" plywood, and some other "junk" and set about to build it.  She also wanted a tray inside for sewing supplies, so some 1/4" Luann was added to the pile of scraps. Oak scraps for feet. The hand holes were made by squishing a roll of masking tape down until a nice shape for my hand to fit through appeared.    Drawn out on the plywood sides, and sabresawn out.  Plugged the screw holes, and used an old Stanley #110 to level the plugs out. A little plastic knob.  Two Oak boards from a pallet for the top, two more for the sides.   Not really a glue joint either...as the ends ( hidden) do all the work. Just some 1/4" luann, again.   Screws are into each oak board.  Like the tray?    A real PITA to make, lots of slots to cut.  Then try to get them ALL to fit into a "box" then add a bottom.  Tray sits on a pair of oak cleats, screwed in place.  Can't remember the stain flavour, might have been a "Golden Oak".   The "Better Half" was happy!    That is all that counts.   Getting close to 30 years old, and holding up.....decently.... December 22, 201213 yr Author  Seems I stil had some plywood left over.   Needed a small, four drawer dresser, just enough for a small TV to set on.   It is starting to show it's age ( so am I ) but still holding together..I think it has 2x4s for corner posts, some 3/8" thick luann ply for the sides.   Drawer fronts are screwed to drawer boxes.  Drawers are 3/4" thick Oak plywood.  Handles were bandsawn, using that masking tape "jig" and then adding the outside curves.  Plywood fronts are wrapped with solid wood.  Just a weekend project to clean out the scrap bin.. December 23, 201213 yr Excellent use of left overs. I hesitate to call it scrap when you can make something so useful with it.Old projects are like old friends, aren't they? Comfortable with the memories.Gene'The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him.' G. K. Chesterton
