December 27, 201213 yr This Christmas I made up some Tea Boxes as gifts. I had hoped to get them all done before Christmas, but I got tied up with a few things and then the weather turned cold and it took much longer to do the finishing. The Tea Boxes are approximately 15"x12"x3" on the outside with 12 divided compartments to store the various types of tea. The top is to be used as a tray for a pot, cups, sugar, etc. and has a 1/4" lip so things won't slide off as you carry it with the side handles. The boxes are made from 3/4" maple with 1/4" maple ply for the top and bottom. The drawers are made from 1/2" birch ply with 1/4" maple ply for the bottom and dividers and 3/4" Jatoba for the drawer front. The finish is Watco Danish Oil in Natural color, a seal coat of shellac and multiple coats of satin clear finish all sprayed. The hardware is oiled bronze. One of the boxes is going to one of my daughter's friends who grew up in our home. She is getting married tomorrow (Dec. 28th) and she loves tea. My daughter bought her a tea pot and cups so they will go together with the box. Another box will be going to a friend at church and the others will go to my daughter-in-law and to my wife to replace the prototype box I made  for her awhile ago out of scrap oak. I will be making some more of these down the road as I got a bunch of ladies that want one, but I need to get some other stuff done first. December 27, 201213 yr Awesome looking! Love the contrast in the woods and the finish is great. I really like the hardware also. Gives it a nice warm look. Those will make some very nice gifts.John MoodySite AdministratorJohn Moody Woodworkshttp://www.johnmoodywoodworks.com
