Anyone Get Anything Finished This Past Weekend?

Featured Replies

Know it's in between Christmas and New Years, but has anyone made sawdust this weekend?

I didn't get anything finished, but got some more done on the clock

Wiring in the lights - looks like a rat's nest right now.

Nothing was done in the shop except giving my wife her new box and me taking the old one out and sitting it on my bench. Working on getting our Christmas/New Years letter and family photo card sent out today. I have to go to Sam's Club to get the cards printed and then to the Post Office to get stamps this morning. The newsletter was written on Christmas morning which is typical for me.

Not too much done. Too cold! I did get the shelf up and some of my scraps on it. At least now I can see what I have before I go out and buy some more.

I got 1 of the three handles done for the scoops I'm making, (one was done previously), so now I am working on the last one which hopefully will work out as great as the last two have. here is handle 2 in Black Walnut

ning-000-0001-00-19143-61.jpg?width=721it has a couple of what appear to be slightly elongated knots near the base of the handle which do give it some good character but also some great color contrast.

Fred,

Does sawdust made with a chainsaw count?

If not then I didn't get anything done.

Fred, I'll say it again; that is one awesomely beautiful piece of work. Will the lights for each level be separately switched?

Allen, Those are some NICE tea boxes. How were they received by their recipients?

Harry, Why lose all the fun of buying wood? You know you will use it eventually, anyway. At least that's my excuse. Same with the Scotch....heeheee.

Larry, If ya split it too, it counts.

Charles, Those handles are looking good. Are they going to anyone I know?

I fiddled around with the I-Box most of the week end. Trying to adapt it to work on the Shopsmith. With a little advice from Incra, it's now perfect, aligned and solid. Did get all the plywood cut for a gun case, too.

Today, I'm adapting for undersized plywood dadoes. I'm still ticked off about it, too!

Gene,

3 of the 4 boxes were well received but the 4th box was given as a wedding gift and I don't know when I will hear from the bride as she is ....well.....busy.

My wife is very happy with hers. The modifications that I made to the new boxes from the prototype were to make them a bit larger so the 12 divided slots in the drawer were a bit larger so that the tea bags/packets would lay flat and easier to remove and not get caught when the drawer was opened/closed. My daughter-in-law was ecstatic with it as she was eyeballing them in my garage as I was making them and dropping me not so subtle hints that she wanted one. She is a coffee/tea fiend and has a whole shelf in her pantry devoted to tea as she does not have room on her counter for it all. Yesterday I gave one to a friend from church who has been in our home bible study group for the past 4 years. She loves tea as well and has a large stash on her counter. She also is very traditional and does spinning/weaving and for years would go to schools dressed in 1800's garb and do re-enactments. She has ladies over for tea on occasion and likes to break out her fancy tea cups. So these were big hits and I will be making more down the road.

Hey Allen,

Sounds like you made some folks very happy.

In a previous post you mentioned that your wife has several kinds of tea and likes try different flavors. Just today, a Canadian friend told me about one from Sri Lanka called Ceylonese Orange Pekoe. Guess who sells it. Lee Valley/Veritas, of all places. It's a loose tea, though. You'd need to build a different box. :-)

Here's a link to that tea.
