Well the last 2 trivets are finished. Several coats of gloss poly.

Lewis, those are fantastic - thanks for sharing

Would you mind sharing the patterns for the cuts.  Would certainly save me some time figuring it out.

Exceptionally nice, Lewis!

The bent ring is really neat, too.

great job Lewis, i really don't know what Trivet's are or what they are used for, but I really like these.

I like Fred's idea.  Are the patterns available?

Thanks for all of the kind words. They are really appreciated!

This is not my design, stole borrowed it from an acquaintance on another site. He posted a how to blog that gives the basic steps. It can be found at- http://lumberjocks.com/degoose/blog/10460.

Actually, our own Mike Dillen makes a beautiful cutting board with a very similar pattern. I think his process is much easier to do especially the fitting and gluing. He even developed clamping jigs to improve assembly.

Charles,

A trivet is just a fancy name for a hot pad that protects a surface from a hot pan or dish. I didn't know that until Mimi pointed it out to me.

It takes everything to make something like that! That's truly an amazing work.

Awesome trivets! Love the geometric design, gives a modern and futuristic appeal to it. Great job!

Very, very nice work Lewis. I have done some similar work and was very proud of all the work and precision that goes into that kind of work. You sure nailed it.

PS Don't allow any one to put a live plant on it, as my wife did mine. You can guess what happened.

If it's like Mimi's cutting board- you end up with a bowl!!

Very nice .

Lew I only wish that I could do that kind of precision work, maybe some day when I get a chop saw/compound miter saw, I will but I don't think so before then :)

Again, wonderful job.

LOL... My first attempt at a bowl began with a large block of wood that I was sure was hiding a bowl. Little did I realize that it wasn't a bowl at all but a small plate. Wood is very tricky that way!
