Since i went to all the trouble of re-doing the edge on the #220, I figured I try it out.     The three I have left decided to  take a turn as well.

For a cheap, little, no-frills plane, that Shelton all-steel (no cast iron in it)  isn't too bad.   The other two I'm keeping are both adjustable mouth planes.   I had them adjusted as closed as I could.   Was getting see-through shavings.  That old piece of scrap Oak USED to be the front "foot" on the dresser I recycled into a till.    I may go back down there, and try out an old Union #3 on the scrap.   Who knows, maybe it will need a little work????

If you wanna see if they are really SHARP, try them on end grain, lol

just used it yesterday to bevel an edge on the computer desk's breadboard end.    It was starting to get dinged up, so i tested a Blue block plane on it.   Made a nice, smooth  45 degree bevel in just  a few passes.   No chatter at all.

Might have to bring up one of the "good "planes, and see how they do on this old Barn Wood Beech.

Who says a person has to have a fancy router to do great roundovers.  Well done, sir

A few looks at the "completed" scrap Oakning-sdc14173-18244-27.jpg?width=721This is the (or was) the inside face of the dresswer's foot.  That crater back there was where a wheel thingy was.  ning-sdc14174-18244-9.jpg?width=721That thar be END GRAIN!    Remember, all this is done with just block planes.ning-sdc14175-18244-17.jpg?width=721And this is the "Good' face.    I didn't round the one end over, because of the crater down there.

Now, IF I can just figure out how to make coves with a block plane...
