January 24, 201313 yr I bought a couple half sheets of 3/4 plywood to make lumber racks. I'm pretty happy with how they turned out. The thought occured to me that something like this could be used for drying racks and folded up and out of the way when done. Thinner shelves and more of them maybe. This is phase one of making my shop more user friendly; Next will be tool racks on my side bench to make things more accessabile to the main bench.                     Good, Better, Best never let it restTill your Good is Better and your Better is Best.
January 24, 201313 yr Good idea for when you can't mount a rack to the wall.User friendly is always a good thing. I'm trying with mine but still have to move "stuff" around to either find a good home for it or to just get it out of the way.Harry BrinkBulldog WoodworkingMontana

January 30, 201313 yr Author Thanks guys. I really like how they are working out. Being able to sort the lumber is a blessing. Instead of a piles on the floor I can divide a project on the shelves. Tv stand I'm starting the 5/4 for the top is on the top shelf the legs and drawer fronts on another the lumber for shelves on another. It's great having the lumber at a good usable height also.Good, Better, Best never let it restTill your Good is Better and your Better is Best.
January 30, 201313 yr Nice idea Mark! Portable lumber rack. I could use something like that to store the stock for the project I'm working on at the time. My biggest problem is no space!www.thepatriotwoodworker.com Proud Supporter of Homes For Our Troops
