USMWT CA Area Meetings in Indiana have usually been in the Southern or the Northern part on the state. The Southern meeting is at McCormick Creek State Park. Usually in March, next year’s meeting will be the twentieth consecutive meeting. This is a two-day meeting at a great location. The Northern meeting has recently been in an old kitchen cabinet factory, in Nappanee, Indiana. Coppescommons.com is the web address. Coppes commons has become a destination for shoppers and tourist. Coppes is famous for making their own brand of the “Hoosier Kitchen Cabinet” from 1902 thru 1940. Coppes is still in business, making it the oldest continuous operating kitchen factory in the U.S. I have volunteered at Coppes for many years as the Coppes Historian. The actual room used for the tool meetings has moved around in the buildings, depending on the space available. This year we will be in an upstairs room (elevator accessible) of the earliest building, built in approx. 1892. Plenty of room to spread out on tool tables. The owner of Coppes Commons is also a MWTCA member and has generously provided the room for no cost, his personal tool collection is also located in this room. My goal is to have a low-cost meeting for the attendees. Check out the web site and see all the shops located in Coppes Commons.
