You and I must have the same provider.   When we lose service and call, wait on hold for 15 minutes, we usually get a, "We can be out a week from Thursday, between 8 and 5. Maybe Friday."  Nevermind one of their field techs lives two doors away.   He finally came when we started the service (third tech sent out) and got it working right.   Sole provider, here, too.   Some people in the next town over have a different one and it's no better there.

 

At the last house, we finally ended up with the phone co's service.   We had another provider.   Had a problem and the tech came out, "Yep, your modem's no good."

 

"Well, can you replace it?"

 

"No, I don't carry them, I usually just work on the poles.   But you can take it to the service center and they'll swap you out.   They stock them."

 

Drive to service center, another 1/2 hour wait, "Oh, no we don't stock those, never have."
