The Patriot Woodworkers with Op Ward 57 Adopt a Gold Star Family for the Holidays - 2017

Come on guys don't make it too easy for me to win that $500 gift certificate because It will be very hard to decide what I want to get and it will mean a lot of hair pulling and I don't have any to spare.

Let's all make sure we show the Merlo family how much we value the great sacrifice that was made for us.  Put some smiles on Charlie's and  Camilla's faces and leave them with memories of a great Christmas.

And don't forget, I'd like to keep what little hair I have.

Thank you Ewt, for your generous addition to the drawing prizes.

Jim thanks for adding the Easy Wood Tools turning tools.  Come on turners get your raffle tickets, these are great carbide tools and remember this is not just about the prizes, it's about giving the Merlo family a great Christmas.

I barely even have $2 right now, but it's a good cause so I chipped in my 2-cents...er...$2 worth! :D

The most important thing is, you are here. By being here you are contributing to the success of our community, and in turn we are able to perform projects like this. Thank you for being here, and thank you for your contribution! :)

It's funny, my sister years ago used to like to go to the casinos when she visited Vegas, she never played anything, she just liked the action, the nightlife, and the shows. But, she was well known within our family for when she exited the casino, she would play only one game upon leaving, the dollar slot machine they typically have near the doors as you walk out. By tradition she would slip one dollar in the machine, that's it, one dollar, and I am not kidding, on more than several occasions she hit it pretty good. Her biggest haul was around 700 bucks. That is the only time she gambled, upon exiting the casino, with just one buck.

Hey John, thanks for the kind words!

It's that funny?? That's really cool, though! I had a friend over a decade ago, talk me into going to the casino with him. I asked how much to bring, and he said about $200 for blackjack. By the end of the night I had close to $2K stuffed in all my pockets and a bucket. He was so jealous and I wasn't realizing it, but he told me to put a stack on each table as we were heading out-it was a cruiser so we didn't want to be stuck for another 3 hours-I just wanted to go, but I fed into the bait and by the time we got off the boat, I only had $500 left! GRRR ARGHHH Then another time a cousin talked me into going and I had $100. I hate slots but he wanted to play them. I had one dollar left and walked off by myself and while walking down this one aisle, my eye caught a machine on the next aisle over. I literally said to myself that it's calling my name. I put the $1 in and got $100! hahaha I told both of them I was never going again! By the time I went here and there with them, that boat owes me around $3K!!! So, they can keep it and aren't getting any more from me! I knew a gal who used to go every week with her hubby and always bragging about all the money she would win. But I could NEVER get her to tell me how much she spent before the big wins! LOL

This is changing the subject, but last week I finally finished that 10-week class! I managed to squeak out a 91.7% at the brutal end! Now, I am looking for some other classes to torture myself further! LOL

I want to thank everyone who has participated in this project, we are truly humbled by the attention this has gotten. I am at a lack for words. Our Patriot Woodworkers come through year after year for this Christmas project we hold, and our Patriot Woodworker's never fail.

We are almost there, thank you all, from the bottom of our collective hearts, thank you!

We are starting to purchase the gifts for the family this weekend, and we have also received a couple wonderful material donations as well, that I will show off very soon. @honesttjohn has shipped some special hand made items to us that will be wrapped and shipped to the family directly, I will show those items off later today. And we also have a couple wonderful items that are going up for auction to increase the revenue for this family, those items will also be published today.

Thank you all, Merry Christmas!

I see that we are now at 93% with 12 days left. This is fantastic and it appears that we'll reach the $1500 goal that was set.

However, I think that we can do better! So, I'm going to challenge all of the member here. I will match 10%, up to a maximum of $50, of anything that is collected over the $1500 goal. So, if we collect another $500 over the $1500, I'll add another $50 to the pot.

Are you guys/gals up to it?
