Kids start back to school Wednesday; Change oil/filter/service my truck; a short trip tentatively planned for end of week through next weekend. Yard needs mowed and weed-eaterized; Tomorrow, I'm planning to take my step-father to this EVENT. Dave - right now - pics or it didn't happen! Hope you have a great time of it. One of her great-great-great grandfathers was one of the 80,000 British Loyalists who left America in the late 1700's to settle in what was then Upper Canada. Hopefully, this doesn't mean that I will be tarred and feathered, and banned from this forum! Gene Howe
Lew, had a buddy who was a "plane captain" on an A6 during 'Nam'. Don't remember which carrier. He spoke highly of that machine and spoke with reverence of the pilots. Several didn't come home. Grandpadave52, Cal and HARO50

honesttjohn
Cutting 18+ hours a day. Got the big local Art Fair this coming week end. Last event of the year (well, maybe one more, but depends how many custom orders I get). Hunting season is getting closer (priorities prevail) and the holidays are homing in. Don't want to stay too busy, just kind of busy. Chips N Dust and Cal

I would love to crawl through a B-29 Looking forward to tomorrow. The weather is supposed to be near perfect; sunny, low humidity & dew point with afternoon temps only around 76o. Cal, Fred W. Popular Post DerBengel
This weekend, I came up with a few project ideas, went with a friend to Olive Garden for Zuppa Tuscana and salad, then went to see the Dunkirk movie. Oh and introduced my friend to the newly discovered hot pepper bacon jelly! This week coming up, going with sister and nephews to some petting farm; I have never been there before, so it will be interesting to see what this is all about. The soup and salad was good as usual-oh yeah and don't forget the tiramisu for dessert, along with a cup of coffee! Dunkirk...what can I say? I understand the story-the 400K men all sitting ducks, a truly, very tragic story! The movie? IT SUCKED!!! A total waste of $21 plus sodas. To see it on TV when it gets there in a year or 2...okay, I guess, but still not worth rewatching. I was sorely disappointed! Okay, the photography was good. The dog fights and bombings looked real instead of computer generated...the angle shots for ships sinking SUCKED! I love war movies in general, and any movie-I need to be moved!!! I want to come out saying, "I laughed, I cried...I cussed that one guy out...I hated so-n-so, I loved so-n-so...I was shocked, surprised, scared..." THIS DOES NOT DO THAT! I was literally BORED half out of my mind! Hamburger Hill, Saving Private Ryan...2 that come to mind right away...you can get into the movie, get to know the characters, feel something, interact...go away with something to feel, think and talk about...Even uhhh...Platoon was good, Full Metal Jacket was okay...Even Good Morning Vietnam had some stuff you could get into...I loved Deer Hunter...there are a ton that actually did something to you... I guess I better be careful with specific details cause I also don't want to be tarred and feathered, for different reasons, but I have some very specific details I would love to point out, about Dunkirk, and just say, "SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!" OH! And I finally bought a jar of the jalepeno jelly for the 2 of us to taste test. I am sorry, don't mean to offend, but the jalepeno jelly was BORING!!! You HAVE got to try the hot pepper bacon jelly!!! OMG!!! It has jalepeno and something else...but it is the star. If I had tried jalepeno jelly first, I would never had bothered trying any other pepper jellies. Good thing I discovered the bacon one first-it was enough for me to at least give the jalepeno jelly a try, and I will now be willing to try other kinds I might find out there. OH! I almost forgot-WOW! Thanks for the mention for my gallery-I was VERY surprised to see that!!! Fred W. Hargis Jr
So far I've liked all of them (haven't seen Dunkirk) except maybe Apocalypse Now, which struck me as a little too screwy to be real. But I have to admit, Pacific was an extremely well done series (as was B of B).
Gerald
Cannot believe y'all left out Patton (fantastic movie), The Longest Day (good not great), The Great Escape (a great one), Think I have watched Band of Brothers five times. Left out The Sullivans, Iwo Jima , Pearl Harbor to name a few. Guess you figured I love war movies. Oh was too tired to post yesterday that we got the pews out and I hauled home. Got the small stuff unloaded and left the 12 foot sections in the truck till my son got home. Well while I was cooking burgers it started to rain I rushed out to unload (adrenaline) . Got them in the shop and you would not believe the blum (lacquer finish).Started the air and whne I came back out was cleared . We got an inch in the first hour and total 3.5 in 5 hours.
