With the hot tub out of this 10x12 building I now have a finishing room. Took down the ceiling fan and installed LED shop lights so we have plenty of light, but no ventilation. No problem, I built this using storm windows because with a hot tub you don't want expensive windows. Just something to keep the elements out. So since you can remove the glass panels for cleaning I decided to remove the upper one in a corner and designed a box to go through it. The hole is just large enough for me to be able to use a 16 inch attic fan, plenty of ventilation power with that! Took me an afternoon to make the box and cut out the front and back panels. I was deliberate in using alot of screws, I prefer to easily be able to access this if my prototype has issues. Ya never know and I certainly am not a design engineer expert. Started with the case. I braced the thing to death, paid off in the end NO vibration. Outside and inside case panels. And after a few days for the paint to cure. All done and working well. Installed aluminum screen on the outside to keep the bugs out. On the inside I used this 1/2 square mesh has a funny name like fabric mess or something. Either way it will keep fingers safe. Now if a bug goes in there, oh well welcome to the torture chamber. Now I am ready for the summer heat.

This window mounted fan support is a long overdue shop upgrade project. Every time I spray lacquer I had to rig the fan to stay in the window (it fell once and bent the blades). And it didn't work very well, either. As much air came in the window as the fan blew out. Also, every bug that got near the window got sucked in by the vortex on the periphery of the fan. This is much, much better! Enjoy! David
