So I poured resin for well moderately the first time this morning I used a home depot paint mix cup as the mold since I wanted to keep it small the first pour I did turned out to be a success with the color and clarity. Did a 1 to 1 mix on the pour. 1 drop of purple liquid dye in the resin got it mixed. Poured and into the pressure pot at about 50 PSI left it in there for about 4 hours or so and it was fully cured. I was actually kind of shocked. I replicated the second pour as best as I but I changed up the color with the dye and mixed a bit of royal blue with the purple. I left it in again at 50 psi for about 4 hours and it was rock solid. So Id say even with a few bubles at the top the second pour was a complete success. The air bubbles will get turned away as well and they are at the very top of the mold so not a huge issue. Seems to other wise be crystal clear all the way through the mold minus some dust bits that got in the resin but I kinda like the look it adds to it. But even with the small amount of left over bubbles in this pour I'm over all happy with this. I haven't taken it out of the mold as of yet but I will get a couple shots of it out of the mold. I was pretty well in a good mood when this actually came out and worked properly so I think the Super Clear Resin for me is a WINNER.

Been a busy week here at the Patriot with lots going on with our turners! Our Patriot Turners- @forty_caliber showed us an oak crotch bowl he is turning. Really looks fantastic- He received lots of positive comments on this one. Here's his post- "Forty" also posted a picture of a rough turned pecan bowl. Some beautiful grain in this one! He tells us a little about it and posted a few more pictures here- @Steve Krumanaker has been busy with several turnings. The first one is a sweet looking bowl that he said ran him through the funnies! Steve explains what happen- Regardless, he received lots of positive comments. Bowls weren't the only type of turnings Steve did this week. He made another vase from the Flame Box Elder log. I love the finish he obtained on this one! You can create some really impressive turning when the bowl is oriented in this position. We posted a multi-axis turning from Alan Stratton. He has updated that video with some shop made jigs. I knew this one was going to be a small one but I was just working out how to get the over all shape of an egg if I even got it right on the attempt. This is only the first attempt at it. I was surprised NO air bubbles in the blue what so ever. How ever the green on the other hand had plenty of them but as I was saying it did get turned off in shaping so no harm done. I do really like the blue color with this. I think what Id like to do is get some liquid dyes I have some already picked out on amazon that I do plan on ordering. Its a bit difficult working with smaller turnings on this size. But I'm hoping I at least got the shape right. I didn't' fully finish this one as I'm just trying to get the shape right.

First resin cast went smoothly not a huge heap of bubbles in this one at least. I'm thinking I may turn this one into an egg once I get my gallon kit of resin maybe turn it into and egg inside of an egg or something. We shall see. How ever the casting has been de molded just used one of the mixing cups as the mold. Its solid but I'm assuming its still curing 24 hours yea right. Not for a deeper poor. Either way I like the color of it. I did a red casting this morning with the last little bit of resin left that I had.
