  1. Finally moving into a new shop. I am moving out of the small blue building into the large building with the red roof. It is going to be a long process but well worth it.
  2. I had to think about this one for a while.........
  3. Check this out! Thanks @Jordan Martindale
  4. I saw some glitter that was like flakes of gold. (hobby lobby)So I had to make an ornament just to try it out. I used Maple & Walnut that I had in my shop. I like how it came out, so does my wife and that is my biggest critic

  6. Pick this up today from my inbox- Dear Veteran, You may be eligible for newly enacted service-connected benefits. Over the course of the last six months, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has begun processing service-connected disability claims for six new presumptive conditions related to environmental exposures during military service. We request your help in making more Veterans aware of these newly added presumptive conditions to help them file a claim and obtain any earned benefits. In May 2021, VA started implementing provisions of the William M. Thornberry National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2021 (NDAA), adding bladder cancer, hypothyroidism and Parkinsonism to the list of medical conditions presumptively associated with exposure to Agent Orange. A few months later VA added asthma, rhinitis and sinusitis (to include rhinosinusitis) on a presumptive basis based on particulate matter exposures during military service in Southwest Asia and certain other areas. Any Veteran who was previously denied service-connection for any of these six conditions but had symptoms manifest within 10 years of military service would need to file a supplemental claim. Be sure to use VA Form 20-0995, Decision Review Request: Supplemental Claim when filing. The claim form should include the name of the condition and specify that the condition is being claimed due to in-service exposure to environmental hazards. 7. The Ringmaster Bowl Turners sub-forum is live and ready for your posts!! You asked for it and our gracious site administrator spent sleepless nights; slaving over a hot computer; consuming copious amounts of coffee and from what I hear revisiting his Marine language to make it available. Please use this sub-forum for all things Ringmaster. Show off your turnings, techniques and tools! Please be sure to add TAGS to your posts to help others during their searches. I am looking forward to seeing what you all do! POST AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. THis may not be "new" news, but I received, in an email, that Lee Valley has a new and improved website- https://www.leevalley.com/en-ca
  9. I received my new aluminum faceplate from Easy Wood today. I was surprised how lightweight and small it was. I was expecting it to be a bit larger, but glad it is small (2" dia) I turn a lot of small pieces on my mini lathe. Of course I had to try it out. I recently cut down a small crab apple tree that has been dead for a couple of years. I salvaged what I could, a couple of pieces about 8"long and 5" dia. I looked at it closely and figured it was too far gone to be any good. My new faceplate worked great........the wood didn't. After I got down about an inch or so, I was worried that it could come apart......I quit. However I really like that faceplate. I intend to use it a lot more, it is easy to use and easy to remove.
  10. I am waiting on my new Buck brand wood plane to arrive. I couldn't pass it up for $20.00! I have one already, but thought I could display this one since it still has the box, and I need to build a larger showcase anyway. Got a few more than 20 assorted: Baileys, Stanley Baileys, Fulton, Craftsman, a Defiance model egg beater with all the bits, a Stanley label scraper, some Stanley #80 and #81's. Everything is cleaned up and sharpened, and ready to use. Oh yeah, about 10 low angle Stanleys and Craftsmans too! Question: Is Buck still in business?
  11. Each year, just before Christmas, my daughter and my grandkids come over and raid my tree ornament supply. That's my Christmas gift to them. They got 20/30 and I have another daughter that will also get about the same amount. Of course my wife gets first choice. Anyway, I just finished this one and since my wife get first choice, it is already hers
  12. I have been wanting a lathe for a long time. Of course, I don't want to spend a lot of money at first till I see if I can like it or not. Also, I know a lathe is a money pit. I would like to turn legs for small tables and make gifts. I guess I am asking for any advice you guys have? If you need more information just ask. Thanks, Don
  13. Picked this up from an email. TiteBond has updated their website. http://www.titebond.com/
  14. Needed a can storage and I had 5" at the end of these cabinets and 13" at the wall and nothing would stick out in the way.. only one can deep on the left side but hey its good enough for two eaters.... Not the same type hinges but did find some drawer pulls that matched.. I made the doors taller for there was not room for drawers on the side. I also changed the single oven and added her stained glass here and there..The cabinet add on was in about 2000 and the double oven in 2002. She has not asked for anything since then!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes I can do flat stuff but under protest and then I can worm my way out of it when necessary...
  15. Abraham Setrakian sent me here. I have always been wanting to get into woodworking. Starting out slowly with just a table saw and a sander. I don't have big dreams, just want to make a few things here and there to sale. I also have a laser engraver, to help create images on the wood. I look forward to learning from the members in here.
  16. My old compressor that I bought back in 2002 finally died. I bought from Home Depot on sale and it was a 22 gallon upright oilless Campbell Hausfield for about $150 on sale and it came with bunch of tools like an air ratchet and air chisel that I have used many times over the years. I originally bought it so I could spray texture on the ceiling of our condo as I had scraped off the popcorn ceiling and the compressor had enough SCFM'S to handle it. I used it a lot over the years without a problem up until a few weeks back. It got a crack in the copper line that went from the pump to the tank so I repaired it and it all worked fine. Then I heard pop and a hissing sound which I found was a cracked threaded tube into the tank where the valves were. So after pulling it apart it was obvious that it was not going to be repairable. So time to get a new one. As much as I would have loved to go with a higher end oiled unit, I just did not have the resources to do it or justify it to my wife. So I settled for a smaller oilless unit from Home Depot for just under $150 including the extended 2 year warranty so it will be covered for 4 years. It is only 8 gallons and puts out enough SCFM's to cover everything I need it to do at home and in my shop. It is considerably more quiet than my old one and takes up less space and it cycles through quickly.
