  1. I am considering purchasing some mortise chisels. My two companies to choose from are Blue Spruce Toolworks, and Lie-Nielsen. I can see from the product page on Blue Spruce that their chisels have a full metal tang, and are currently on sale, with the sale to end March 18. Do the Lie-Nielsen also have a full tang? Their product page doesn't show one way or the other, and the description also doesn't say. Disregarding price, which brand would you choose?
  2. Not a sponsor and if not allowed @John Morris please remove. Highland hardware has a giveaway at https://www.highlandwoodworking.com/lie-nielsen-tormek-giveaway.aspx?utm_source=ActiveCampaign&utm_medium=email&utm_content=Read+the+May+2023+Issue+of+Wood+News+Online&utm_campaign=Wood+News+May+2023&vgo_ee=s8JcJPMDMXvHb7ryM6n2IKdoMImrkn557GZAxhVYSXcRICaBKjs%3D%3AmIOlthuJPhSwpkP3DbTOHzP2g8miQB7Y You might also want to look at the latest newsletter for several stories about Jimmy Carter . https://www.highlandwoodworking.com/woodnews/wn201.html
  3. I have been jealously looking through the hand tools section of this forum for a while and drooling over the old plane finds (we don’t seem to have those kinds of things at garage sales out here). One of the things I have been looking for for a long while is a Stanley No. 62 in good condition. I was very happy to see that Lie Nielsen is making a reproduction of these and I ordered one hoping it would be as good as the Stanley I remember using. Color me impressed. It is every bit as good! The build quality, finish, and iron are all arguably even better. I needed to glue up some red oak tonight for a project and figured I would use it to prep the final surface. Red oak is notorious for tear outs so i figured it would be a good test. The floor is now covered in wispy little shavings, the block is glued and in the clamps and I am a happy kid.
  4. An oldie but goodie, in case you haven't seen it. Warning NSFW. http://giantcypress.net/post/1487152382/overheard-conversation-at-a-lie-nielsen-hand-tool
