While my JET drill press has a light built in it is not adjustable, just straight down. Normally that is enough. The WEN however has no lamp, it does have a laser pointer. The space in between the two looked tempting. Also available is a outlet so no searching for power. Next my friends son wanted to see how to set up for double lap joints so he can try at home. So brought him in and had him do all the set up and cutting and after an hour he was all smiles. This was his 1st attempt, albeit with help. Nice and tight, went together very smooth with glue as lubricant. This afternoon we have this. Now for test fit as this lamp is not permanent. I intend to built my own arms and use a 12 volt LED lamp as a later project. To keep the arms together when stowed away I epoxied a small magnet. To one of the arms. Held good. This is light set up for the WEN drill press. Rotate some and now we have light on the JET drill press. Now retracted and out of the way. Test fit completed and works as anticipated. Off to finishing room for a few coats of General Finishes Arm R Seal semi gloss. A quick project that will be a great aid when using drill presses.

I have two battery powered LED lamps with clamping and magnets for mounting. After a couple of years, they just quit. yesterday I disassembled one and in doing so I destroyed the lamp housing. When I disassembled it, I discovered that the neg side of each LED made pressure contact only and that handling/usage causes these contacts to dislodge. I soldered a good copper wire to each and fashioned a lamp case on the lathe. I soldered the wires and gooped the end for a tight fit. Works just fine now.

From the album: Pine Is Fine Custom Cabinets and Furniture
This handcrafted picture/lamp table is made from solid walnut. The table top measures at 16", the center leg is hand turned on the lathe and it has 3 claw feet. I used a medium walnut Danish oil on it with 3 coats of satin polyurethane on the top.
