  1. For those that remember that far back....ever see a hacksaw with a handle like this? Wing nut is also a bit strange.. That be a wing nut and a normal nut as one piece? Logo? WARD'S MASTER QUALITY....not too sure who the owner was, that left his mark... As for a square.... Note the heart shaped area? It IS missing the level, though...not a biggie..
  2. A store in Huntsville OH. Stopped in the town for some cheap gas for the van ($2.18/gal.) and decided to check the place out, again A #6 plane on a shelf.....unknown name. $25. Meh...pass for now A #5 wannabe with a "Master Mechanic" decal on the lever cap? $25? Pass A #5 Craftsman, with a keyhole saw handle on the rear deck? $15? Pass A Trans. plane, unkown # because someone had sawn off both ends right at the point the upper iron works start....$25? Not a chance 2 broken Shelton block planes and a #110 wannabe...didn't even bother to lok for a price. Yep, that bad. Now, the good stuff? The hacksaw is a Union Hardware Co. of Toppenington, CONN. The bit is a MY-T-Co 3/4" auger bit The pliers are a trimmer from Seymour Smith & Son Original #119 . All of these were a $1 a piece. There is also an expansion bit, still in the rehab center...it was also a dollar bill. Then, there was this thing A Disston USA D-23, with an almost readable etch. Has a slight, fixable kink near the end. Hardware was brass plated. Spent a whopping $3 for it. Needs a bit more rehab, but should be ok.... Missed out on a "Multi-family Yard sale" on the way home....maybe next time...
  3. Well, it is getting close to that date. Time to lighten the tool box at work, to make it easier to cart out when I do retire. Two items came home this time. A 12oz ball peanhammer i never used. Red headed, LONG handled, might be a Plumb, or a Buckeye brand. Then there was a hacksaw. Black plastic pistol grip. Someone had painted the metal parts a silver colour. At least it didn't rust, that way. Thought I would clean it up, to see what this thing really was And a close up of the handle. Looks like there was a place for a label? Fired up the drill press with the wire cup. Got a lot of the paint off, finally. A name started to appear on the frame Not sure how well this will turn out, but: Millers Falls Greenfield, MASS made in USA There is the Milers falls double diamond trade mark and....No. 1237. There was an ad in the 1960 Popular Mechanics with this for sale. around here, counting tax, it would be about $3...... not too bad? IF i remember, I think this was ONE of my late FIL's saws. Will need a new blade. Maybe add some M-F's red paint to the etch? Might have a few more years left in it.
