I haven't given up on my grandfather clock. The service guy did. I've tried several things and have had limited success to get it to run, it chimes OK. Today I discovered possible solution and the correct number to order a replacement mechanism. The possible solution was a link (chimes on and off) the service guy put in that was on a serious bind and when you moved it, things bent. It has kept time for 18 hours and hopefully from now on. If not, I'll go with the new mechanism.
I'm getting tired of this monster taking up my shop space and limiting my shop activity.
