  1. Ok, so now that the gun show (and my first booth) are 3 days away.... I'm mildly freaking out lol Did I make enough so I don't run out... will I even sell anything... will I forget to wear pants... I know I will always see flaws in my work that no one else would notice unless they were nitpicking or I told them they were there... but I'm suddenly feeling nervous about the whole thing lol Nevermind being in a room with HUNDREDS of people moving around (I think its well beyond a couple thousand expected for the whole event)... because I adore crowds (i know it won't be as bad because there will be a physical barrier between us). Anyway... I know my brain is over-driving about nothing... Anyone else who has done events felt the same way?
  2. This is what the thirteen folds of a properly folded United States of America Flag stand for. The first fold of our flag is a symbol of life. The second fold signifies our belief in eternal life. The third fold is made in honor and tribute of the veteran departing our ranks, and who gave a portion of his or her life for the defense of our country to attain peace. The fourth fold exemplifies our weaker nature as citizens trusting in God; it is to Him we turn for His divine guidance. The fifth fold is an acknowledgment to our country, for in the words of Stephen Decatur, “Our country, in dealing with other countries, may she always be right, but it is still our country, right or wrong.” The sixth fold is for where our hearts lie. It is with our heart that we pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. The seventh fold is a tribute to our armed forces, for it is through the armed forces that we protect our country and our flag against all enemies. The eighth fold is a tribute to the one who entered into the valley of the shadow of death, that we might see the light of day, and to honor our mother, for whom it flies on Mother’s Day. The ninth fold is an honor to womanhood, for it has been through their faith, love, loyalty, and devotion that the character of the men and women who have made this country great have been molded. The 10th fold is a tribute to father, for he, too, has given his sons and daughters for the defense of our country since he or she was first-born. The 11th fold, in the eyes of Hebrew citizens, represents the lower portion of the seal of King David and King Solomon and glorifies, in their eyes, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. The 12th fold, in the eyes of a Christian citizen, represents an emblem of eternity and glorifies, in their eyes, God the Father, the Son, and Holy Ghost. The last fold, when the flag is completely folded, the stars are uppermost, reminding us of our national motto, “In God We Trust.”

this is just off the CNC table. I was playing with using some frames I had in the studio and wanted to mount carvings instead of paintings. wanted the carvings to come outside the frame.

  6. OK folks, time to put on your thinking caps. Like most of y'all, I have several hobbies outside of woodworking. I love to build and fly kites but I'm also a "gun guy" so one of my next projects is going to be building an American flag gun case. The idea behind the case is to build a piece of eye candy that will hang on the wall built it will double as a secure hide-a-way for a few guns that can be quickly accessed. Here's my dilemma. I want the case to be secure from inquisitive children but also have quick access to the weapons so I need a system to secure the guns but also be able to quickly access them. I thought about a bio metric lock but I can't find one that it reasonably priced. John Moody and I also discussed maybe putting a pair of recessed finger latches at the top about 3 feet apart at the top. So, any ideas? There are several different styles but courtesy of the ProtectYOURshelves store on Etsy, here's a picture of one that is available. https://www.etsy.com/listing/468196428/red-white-blue-concealment-flag?ref=shop_home_feat_3
  7. Just wanted to share another one (y'all know I love this kind of thing) Think we have one this time??????
  8. I am the flag of the United States of America My name is Old Glory. I fly atop the world’s tallest buildings. I stand watch in America’s halls of justice. I fly majestically over great institutes of learning. I stand guard with the greatest military power in the world. Look up! And see me! I stand for peace, honor, truth, and justice. I stand for freedom. I am confident … I am arrogant. I am proud. When I am flown with my fellow banners, my head is a little higher, my colors a little truer. I bow to no one. I am recognized all over the world. I am worshiped. I am saluted. I am respected. I am revered. I am loved. And I am feared. I have fought every battle of every war for more than 200 years… Gettysburg, Shilo, Appomatox, San Juan Hill, the trenches of France, the Argonne Forest, Anzio, Rome, the beaches of Normandy, the deserts of Africa, the cane fields of the Philippines, the rice paddies and jungles of Guam, Okinawa, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, and a score of places long forgotten by all but those who were with me. I was there! I led my soldiers. I followed them. I watched over them… They loved me. I was on a small hill in Iwo Jima. I was dirty, battle-worn and tired, but my soldiers cheered me, and I was proud. I have been soiled, burned, torn and trampled on the streets of countries I have helped set free. It does not hurt … for I am invincible. I have been soiled, burned, torn and trampled on the streets of my country, and when it is by those with whom I have served in battle … it hurts. But I shall overcome … for I am strong. I have slipped the bonds of Earth and stand watch over the uncharted new frontiers of space from my vantage point on the moon. I have been a silent witness to all of America’s finest hours. But my finest hour comes when I am torn into strips to be used for bandages for my wounded comrades on the field of battle. when I fly at half mast to honor my soldiers… and when I lie in the trembling arms of a grieving mother at the graveside of her fallen son. I am proud. My name is Old Glory. Dear God … Long may I wave!
