  1. I have two of theses whatever's ... I know (or I think I know) that they are for sanding. Doing a google search and looking at 100's of images I still have no clue. I was thinking maybe an attachment for a buffing grinder.
  2. Great time to pick up a brand new drum sanding kit for your Shopsmith! This Week's Deal! WWW.SHOPSMITH.COM Special Limited-Time Savings From Shopsmith
  3. For those of you who use a drum sander you know that sometimes you'll get snipe just like on a planer. The quick trick to eliminating that is just like with a planer - use a sacrificial board in front of and behind the work piece. Now, that's all fine and dandy if you have straight edges on your work piece but if it's oddly shaped or round, then what do you do? Well, what I do is save the cut-offs from the work piece. They're the same thickness and should fit pretty closely to run in front of and behind the target work piece. A few weeks ago I cut a large Lazy Susan and didn't allow
  4. I have wanted a drum sander for a long time and I really want a Supermax 16-38 but really it's too big for what I do and of course several more $100 than the Jet. Has anyone had any experience with the Jet 10" sander? Thanks for any help.

For those that are looking at getting a drum sander, this will give you a good idea of what it is like to replace velcro backed sandpaper and might help you make a decision for yourself if this is a feature that you want or not. I share a lot of gold nuggets on installation and things to look out for. I hop
  7. Christmass in June I ordered this a dragons age ago and they had 'em back ordered. Got shipping no charge Assembly was a snap. It came while I was welding my Table Saw Fence Got it running this evening. It works. Gotta adjust it tomorrow It's not parallel yet.
  8. Before Christmas when I was using my drum sander for making gifts I decided to take it apart after Christmas for a little tweaking. When I got it the table needed to be made parrellel to the drum (fixed), I found out that it works better with a dust collector attached (so far), but the biggest problem is that the drum is about 10 thousandths out of round on the outside end. This makes a vibration when used on that end, and it doesn't allow the full use of the sandpaper around the drum. This is what it looks like right now. My plan is to take the drum to my cousin and have him remachin
