I have a plate to mount but it has .350 dia thru hole with 82 deg countersink. Supposedly for #12 or #14 screws but no vix bit for that size hole is available. So how to accurately find the center of the hole? The #12 screws fit but are recessed below the surface of the plate which is desired. Note even sure if #14 screws exist maybe it is then measured as 3/16 or 5/16 or just what is the next size up. Any ideas on how to find the exact center of the holes? There are 6 of them in the plate and I am to make sure the plate is parallel to the bench. but any little 1/64" off center and it does not work. Any and all help appreciated.

I was using a rat-tail rasp this morning and noted my comment on it that it had been sharpened. Did you know that you can have sharpened files, rasps, and other such tools?. I have used Boggs Tool https://boggstool.com/. They cost just a few dollars each. Since you have to pay shipping, it pays to send a few at once, or get together with a buddy. If the tool is beyond sharpening, they will discard or return at your request. They told me they'd make my Nicholson patternmaker's rasp sharper than new.

Here a month ago I went on a hunt for a good countersink. I I settled on one for an aircraft tools company Brown Tool Co. https://www.browntool.com/Listview/tabid/344/CategoryID/62/Level/a/ProductID/219/Default.aspx I used it today for the first time and it did what I expected of a good countersink. It took a few minutes to set up for depth, but after that it did a nice job. No whirling rim to mark up the work. It is a countersink only, have to dill the holes first. Can be set to counter bore for plugs too. Herb
