When my old Sanborn compressor failed, I started looking for used compressors on CL with the requirement it be at least 1 HP, cast iron, two cylinder oil pump and 20 gal. or more tank capacity...Oh and cheap, and fairly local. A day or two in to my search this showed up on CL...seemingly met all criteria...I waited for a couple more days or so then emailed the guy...couple of days went by, he responded it was still for sale but would be at least 2 weeks before he could show it...had hurt his back and was down for the count...I responded sorry about your back, you have my contact info, when you're better let me know; if I haven't found one yet I'll take a look. Of course I bought the gas model Speedaire a couple of weeks ago planning to rob the pump for mine and using the tank for a surge tank. Three plus weeks went by then out of the blue got an email earlier this week I could come and look at it...as luck would have it, it was right after the truck went wacky. Anyway, finally worked out we could meet at 10 AM today...25 minute drive through the country from here to there. Compressor is original except the motor is a Power-Craft (Montgomery-Wards)...it seems to get along fine with the Sears pump; they'll soon both be history anyway...not sure of the age but the motor to pump belt is a serpentine. Pulleys appear to be original...tank is smaller than it appears...maybe 16g???; Included the hose and filter/ moisture separator. he was asking $45...helped me load it after I handed him (2) $20's. It works "out of the box" for now. His pictures from CL....
Who We Are
We are a woodworking community with an emphasis on sharing and learning the skilled craft of woodworking and all of its related disciplines. Our community is open to everyone who wishes to join us. We support our American veterans and active duty, being a veteran is not a prerequisite to join. Join us now!
Of course just like most online woodworking communities we are centralized in the arts, crafts, and trades that are woodworking. But, we have another focus in our Patriot Woodworker community, we are the only woodworking community that was founded on our care and concern for our disabled veterans.
The Patriot Woodworkers are an all volunteer community, from the staff and hosts who run our online woodworking community to the members who frequent our forums, you'll find volunteers in all of us. We are not on a payroll, unless you consider the spiritual rewards gained from volunteering, as compensation.
One of the many projects we are working on is a wiki for our online community. A wiki is a great way for woodworkers and enthusiasts to share their knowledge to others, and to impart their knowledge for others to learn from, and utilize as well for their own benefit. We hope you'll consider being a wiki contributor.
