  1. First Friday of 2024 folks! Here "Two Weeks From Anywhere" my brother bought a newer car. He got a 2022 Honda HRV to replace his 2000 Chevy Blazer. His Blazer wouldn't start the other day, and he decided it was time to replace both of their "Money Pits". His Blazer and the SIL's 2004 Chevy Malibu Maxx are now sitting next door. The Malibu has an engine noise, the Blazer Bruce and I got running after replacing the throttle position sensor. The Blazer wasn't throwing any CEL codes, so we took our "supply" of sensors with us when we went back for it after getting the Malibu. After going through Bruce's Astro van, I knew it had to be one of several sensors that can shut down the fuel injector circuits. My brother said he was told the rear end in the Blazer will need replacing because the differential cover rusted out and it now has a slight whine after it was replaced. Bruce wants to put a plow on it to plow next door, so we'll be making a "Boneyard" run sometime this morning to see about a rear end. I also received the replacement front trunnion clamp for that old Delta #860 table saw yesterday that I acquired through a parts swap with another old machinery enthusiast. That's about it here, What's on Your weekend Agenda?
  2. Well what do you know, it's Friday again folks! Here "Two Weeks From Anywhere" I've been trying to gather my stash of old Delta machine parts into one location so I can determine if I have everything required to put together one of these. I'm down to trying to find two parts for the table saw. I have one of the parts, but it is damaged hopefully not beyond repair after I broke it yesterday trying to straighten it. It snapped just as I got it back straight. I don't think this will work to fix it. Here's a look at the part. NCS-55-S Front Trunnion Clamp with Worm and Shaft. Hard to tell in the photo, but there is also a crack just left of the worm gear. Must be a common problem as I saw several photos on The Vintage Machinery website with the same crack by the gear. It would appear that a previous owner forgot to loosen the Trunnion Clamp before trying to change the table angle. The worm gear tore two or three teeth out of the Sliding Trunnion Bracket which I do have a replacement for. I do believe I can make this part work while I try finding another. We have ways! Refurbing that part is my plan for the weekend, What's on Your Weekend Agenda?
  3. Friday again folks! Have to go and finish a well tank replacement later today for a neighbor about 1/4 mile down the road. Ran and hopefully got everything needed last evening, then proceeded to remove the old tank from its built in place cabinet. Need to take the torch set over today so I can get the cut off pipe out of a tee. Need a bit more heat than the Bernzomatic propane torch can deliver. That's my plan for today, haven't thought about the weekend. What's on Your Weekend Agenda?

A woodworking and carving artist like no other and is renowned for his impressive sculptural installations, furniture, and beautifully carved decorative objects. This rare video from late 2022 shows the special bond between the hands making a Morakniv and the hands using it. A shared philosophy that is carefully handed over from the knife manufacturer to the artisan. In this session, Jögge performs a masterclass shoulder to the skilled men and women at the wooden handle department. The very same skilled craftsmen and women that assemble the woodcarving knives he uses daily.

Featured Video I recently discovered a YouTube channel "My Growth Rings" by Scott. Really about the only Shopsmith YouTube guru I knew of was Doug Reid. But he hasn't made a video in years I believe. So while perusing the old YouTube I stumbled on Scott. Very active within the Shopsmith community, and his channel is updated very frequently. I have heard many explanations on why Shopsmith saw blades have a 1 1/4" arbor, and they all seemed very suspicious to me, but this one that Scott gives, is based on undeniable fact, per the Patent for their arbor safety system. Enjoy!
  7. Friday again folks. Here in the land of "Two Weeks from Anywhere" we've been enjoying a few days of Sunny 50° temperatures. I helped Bruce replace the shock absorbers and sway bar on his 99 Astro earlier in the week. (Required a bit of it can't be tight if it's liquid work ) Other than that, not much happening here. What's on Your Weekend Agenda?

Featured Video I am a Lie Nielsen fan, and they just dropped this video a couple days ago, I found it fascinating all the work that goes into making these beautiful hand planes. There is a lot of human interaction with the making of these planes, next time you purchase a Lie Nielsen tool, remember they are all 100 percent Made in America, by American labor, and American hands and fingers have carefully fabricated and examined every inch of your Lie Nielsen tool. Enjoy!
  9. Not sure what day it is where you're at but it's Friday again here "Two Weeks From Anywhere" folks. Also not sure what Mother Nature has in store for your area this weekend but we're forecast to be in the mid to high 50's again today after setting a new record high yesterday and are forecast to do the same again today and tomorrow. So, while it's cooperating, I'll be trying to get some outside things done. With that, What's on Your Weekend Agenda?
  10. December already? Not sure what I'll be doing this weekend, it depends on what Mother Nature decides to throw our way. Probably won't get much done, I've been dealing with an upper respiratory infection that has me slowed way down. Did manage to get that pile of firewood moved and stacked, took two days to do what should have taken about four hours. That's about it for here, What's on Your Weekend Agenda?
  11. Friday again folks! Not sure what I'll get done on this frigid Friday, It's a whole 25° with a feels like temperature of 6°. We might warm up to freezing. Looks like a weekend of trying to stay warm as we're not forecast to hit 40° until midweek. What's on Your weekend Agenda?

Return to the World I'd like to thank @Ron Dudelston and @lew for all their work behind the scenes while I was absent, and our Forum Hosts for keeping their forums lively and updated. And last but not least, I'd like to thank the gents who kept the Monday topic up and live, thank you!!! I had strict doctors orders to unplug from the world for a month and focus on my own health, that meant no work, no online activity, R&R, and time away from it all. In other words I danged near lost my mind and had to take a break! Thanks again to everyone, especially our members who keep coming back and make this forum what it is today. Featured Video How to build a pre-industrial table, this trailer shows a little bit of what's in the entire class episode, I have the dvd that I purchased when they first came out by the fine folks at Mortise and Tenon Magazine, I watched the entire video over two hours long and I learned much just by watching, and I have not even built the table yet. I highly recommend this class if you want to learn to build just like a shop would in the pre-industrial era. 13. Looks like it's Friday again folks. Not much happening here, What's on Your Weekend Agenda?
  14. Looks like we made it to another Friday. Here "Two Weeks From Anywhere" yesterday marked the day forty years ago that SWMBO started putting up with me. She must have been out of her mind. Not sure what I'll be doing this weekend, What's on Your Weekend agenda?
  15. Friday again folks! Not much happening here, Mother Nature closed the outdoor shop on me. Did help Bruce fire up the boiler next door and had to replace a 3 1/2" piece of 1" black pipe in the steam pressure supply line. Not sure what I'll do for the weekend. What's on Your weekend Agenda?
  16. Friday again folks. Here in the land that is "Two Weeks From Anywhere" I'm waiting to see if the weather is going to improve enough that I can attempt to get several projects done. Not sure if that's going to happen, might have to pack things up for this season. With that, What's on your weekend agenda?
  17. Made it to another Friday folks. Here in the land of "Two Weeks From Anywhere" I'll be heading to just south of "Three Weeks From Anywhere" this weekend to help install an overhead furnace. Haven't been able to get much done here in between all of the we've been getting. 4 days of rain 2 without 3 days of rain rinse repeat do it again. Good news is we're finally out of the drought conditions we've had most of the spring and summer this year. That's about it for here, what's on your weekend agenda?
  18. Did not see anything and not much going on here. So here goes. Finished a good weekend at the Ag Museum. A friend cut two cherry burls I hope to get this week. A club member has a line on few large cherry logs , we may harvest this week.Starting today to laminate some blanks for Christmas gift boxes. What was your weekend like and what plans do you have for the week?
  19. Friday The 13th Folks! Here in the land of "Two Weeks From Anywhere" we're in for a weekend. I'm not letting that stop me from working on one of the "FUN" projects I've got going. Spent the past couple of days working around the getting the main case for the Larkin desk put back together. I'll be posting photos of my slow progress, nothing like watching a glue up cure. Kind of reminds me of watching paint dry. Today I hope to get the back of the case put back on. That's about it for my weekend agenda, what's on yours?

  21. Friday again folks. Nothing I want to do on my weekend agenda, what's on yours?
  22. Anything going on? Everybody trying to just let Monday slide by? A factory I used to work for....seems to have changed to 4 ten hour a day shifts........they are working Tuesday through Friday....and NOT on Mondays? Hmmmm?
  23. Friday Folks! Spent most of the week trying to work around the rain we got here "Two Weeks from Anywhere". That Astro van couldn't resist tormenting me two more times after we got it running. Ended up having to replace the EGR Valve, and MAP Sensor as well. That's just about everything in the 5 Volt line of the Fuel System. So it would appear that whoever had tried working on it crossed a 12 Volt supply line with the 5 Volt circuits in the VCM/Fuel supply sensors when they worked on it. At least now it will display DTC's when it wouldn't before making diagnostics much easier than digging through the schematics and manually diagnosing the problems. Drove it around for about 3 hours yesterday and so far no more DTC's. Will be helping Bruce get the roof rack done today. Fall "Curb Shopping" starts Sunday! Still waiting for the Hollow End Mill so I can get that broken bolt out of the Pilot so I can install the new Neutral Safety/Range Position switch. Not sure but might be able to get back to projects, weather and vehicles permitting. We'll have to wait and see what happens, What's on Your weekend Agenda?

Thank you for making our newest folks feel welcome. 5 Weeks For the next 5 weeks it's just my son and I. Mama took off to her home country of Panama to visit her family and help take care of her mother, and to give her siblings a break from the care they've been providing for their mother. My son and I saw her off to the airport on Friday, and we drove home, on the way we stopped by a good burger spot and enjoyed our first meal as "Free men". We had a great time, we talked about his job, his buddies, and the things we are going to do while mama is gone to keep us occupied. We arrived home that night, he ran upstairs and hung out doing what 19 yr olds do, talk with his buddies, jump on a game or two, and I sat down in the living room in the quiet of the home. Fast forward to today, Monday morning and I'm getting ready for work, and all I have to say at this point is this "I was built to be married!". . It's gonna be a loooong 5 weeks my friends. Featured Topic An infestation that is welcome, now this is really wonderful. By @HandyDan Featured Video
  25. Friday again folks. Here in the land of "Two Weeks from Anywhere" I'm still waiting for the delivery of a hollow end mill so I can get at a broken off bolt on the Pilot so I don't have to go through dropping the front subframe to try drilling it out. Also still doing battle with that Astro van of Bruce's. Has a strange fuel injector shut off problem going on that when the fuel injectors get cut off the gas gauge rotates counterclockwise. It's not throwing any DTC codes but if you disconnect the battery for a half hour the system resets and it will start/run for about ten minutes before the gas gauge starts rotating and it will not restart due to the Vehicle Control Module shutting down the fuel injector system. Otherwise if you start/stop the motor without running it for the ten minutes you can get two to four starts before the VCM shuts down the injector system. @Gunny Any ideas? Well, it looks like that's my weekend agenda. What's yours?
