Well again I'm impressed with packaging. I received it today, ups guy was late with it came back to my place after his deliveries were done and dropped it off for me which was nice. Product came in great condition. I have yet to use this tool but I'm sure I will be using it plenty. Over all tool length is good. Will be interesting once I start using it for hollowing but it will be better than the PSI tools I was using previously. I was expecting it this morning how ever as I said UPS guy was LATE shame. Either way here's what you can expect when ordering these tools.... They are quite ni

Any how I purchased carbide tipped chisels. They are the Savannah Carbide Turning Tool Large Size 3 piece set. Which I bought all three of them in one go. Not a tool review by any means since I haven't used them as much. But so far I can say I like them. I started turning a new piece since the other piece I was working on quite literally snapped in half on me any how no big deal. So I put up the black walnut piece that I had started and about a half hour to an hour or so later I had something of a shape turned out maybe it will make some what of a candle holder but it turned into more of

After the last meeting our turning club had back in November we were diccussing covers for turning tools to protect the edges from damage and protect others from getting hurt by the sharp edges. I thought maybe Kydex and someone suggested PVC. I looked at what I had and the cost of getting different diameters. For my 5/8 Thompson I used 1/2 schedule 40 and a heat gun to soften and stretch. For my 1 1/4 scrapers I used 1 inch schedule 40 which when flattened is a perfect fit. Note that schedule 40 has a little memory so while still hot tends to spring back so I had to leave in the vise to cool

I'm thinking a lazy susan type rack with the lathe tools leaning inward at about 10 degrees, I'm designing this lazy susan and go t to thinking about what might happen if I spun it fast enough to flip the tools outward. They'd clatter all over the floor and I'd have some grinder work to do I've considered rare earth magnets but I try to avoid magnetizing my tools and that'd do it. Maybe I'll have to bite that bullet. An alternative is to make the base deep enough that the handles would set in far enough that they couldn't fall out but could only be picked up and drawn

Well I was at work today getting together the tools for our Easy Wood Tools Loan and Review project. We will be shipping this case of tools out to our members to use for two weeks before they forward them on to the next user, each user will be asked to post a review here on The Patriot Woodworker. I worked on a used aluminum case today that I procurred to install the tools into. The case will then be shipped out to our first tester and reviewer Lew Kauffman, and after he is finished he'll ship them up the line to the next woodworker. The program will be in effect shortly, we still have a few

Cleaning up the shop, putting away the toys, er tools. Spied a black box Hmm, wonder what I stashed in there? Opened it up, found a couple wood bodies for a few hand planes, eh....and a few of these That long sucker is a 5/8 Bowl gouge. If I recall correctly, and it was a yard sale item that cost a $1. Four Craftsman chisels, and four that were I think from Harbor Freight. Went back and cleaned these all up. Now the problems arise. You see, there isn't any room for them in this box and the lathe these w
