Skil used to be owned by Bosch. At that time, it was a lower quality line, maybe with the exception of the worm-drive Skilsaws. Now it's owned by Chervon and some reviews I've seen lately it's a good quality line of tools. Porter-Cable used to be in bed with Delta. They were some of my original tools and very good. Then Stanley Black and Decker bought them. They, I guess, didn't want them to compete with the DeWalt line so they seemed to be downgraded. Now, it seems that they are doing a more quality tool now. Craftsman, as we have discussed, used to be a long-declining quality when Sears economized and looked for lowest bidder. Then when SB&D bought them, it seems the quality improved and now they're a house brand of Lowe's. Still undecided in my mind where they fit in the quality line of their products. Darn, it's like a horse race out there.

Another collection of peculiar workshop related items. The stories and pictures you are about to see are real. Call it an obsession, sickness, hoarding, or missing fence rescue, IDK why I do it...I just do... Before you judge me and my madness illness, you should first speak to those voices in my head. Rest assured once you do, you'll be snatching orphan fences from the hands of the weak and infirmed too. With maybe a couple of exceptions, all have been $1 or less. those on the right probably 10-30 cents/ea. The Craftsman on the far left was a buck (maybe less), NIB at a yard sale. Some of the others again were 50 cents or less and maybe in a bucket or box with other "treasures" for a buck or two. Same pic as above, only with the box closed. If I recall, these two were $3...purchased from a Habitat for Humanity Restore in Illinois. Must have come out of a retailer who had a fire since there was soot all the packages and the packages were stained like water damage. The B&D will be assigned to a new old stock B&D 7-1/4" circular saw I bought at a flea market for $20. It was missing the fence. circular saw obsession will be a future post unless good weather comes first. As twisted as it may seem, there at least another 6 or 8 not pictured here. They've actually been assigned to orphan tools. Two of which were identical and perfect for my 5-1/2" cordless 19.2V Craftsman and my 18V Ryobi. Another was assigned to an old Craftsman Jig saw I rescued and re-furbed. I think I gave my ex-SIL a couple too. Well thanks for looking...they tell me it's time for my meds.

These treasures followed me home a couple/three weeks ago...Nothing really exciting and not all wood related BUT the prices were right... Picked these at the "Flea-Market Warehouse"...<$5 with tax total for this pile and... this pile of treasures...saw handle is a remade version...Knob is heavy and has a 3/8"-16 x 1-5/8" shaft....wrench will almost fit spindle collet on a couple of routers...fits arbor bolt on my old 7" Craftsman circular saw... New, never used...mate to one I bought there some time back for a buck...now that I have a pair, they'll probably end up in grandson's tool totes down the road...no arguing that way... These were from the Habitat for Humanity Restore...with the first of the month price adjustments based on price sticker color, I spent $2.45 + tx... The saw guide is for older (e.g. 1970's) Skil's circular & jig saws...I have both. T-20 x 1/4" dr...I seem to go through a lot of that size and for .15c ea.. scraper blade in a repurposed handle works great to scrape glue squeeze out. Another extra arbor bolt wrench for my old Craftsman circular... One never can have enough arbor bolt wrenches...probably a few more stashed not pictured...
