  1. X2. Assuming the legs are recessed a bit, seems like you would need to shim up the legs to make the trim cut square. Not that the dog would care as long as the meal is on time.
  2. That loud sound was the HD price going through the roof now. I believe that's called the announcer's curse.
  3. Just got moved into the new house. Good thing there's a warranty since the punch list is growing by the minute. And the subs are so sloppy - hurry, hurry, get in and get out. On a positive note, I'm going to have a shop again.
  4. This is the kind of thing I was referring to... https://www.foxbusiness.com/media/racial-bias-artificial-intelligence-testing-google-meta-chatgpt-microsoft-chatbots It looks like only the Microsoft version consistently provided the requested information.
  5. I haven't touched AI (at least not consciously), and I hope I can avoid being sucked into it. It really scares me, but not for a search about puppies. That's been out there for years. What student is going to actually write a paper? And how could it be validated? Will anyone who writes for a living have a job? Someone smarter than me questioned the "knowledge" base of AI. If any part of it is based on the slanted news articles of the past 40 years, it will be like a house built on a shaky foundation. Will AI products be "woke" or politically correct? Will alternate or unapproved views be suppressed? Google and Twitter have been doing that for years. And look who's developing AI! But my biggest worry is about my grandson and the kind of world he'll be living in.
  6. In my simple mind, if the values go up, shouldn't the rates go down? Or, did the government spending also go up 36%?
  7. John, we're in Murrells Inlet, just south of Myrtle Beach. Like many growing areas, they have all melted together. Originally from central NY (Cooperstown), we did the snowbird thing for a few years, but it got too much. It's quiet and very convenient here, but without the craziness of MB. Haven't had to deal with any big storm yet, but our neighbors have without issues. Mt. Airy - isn't that the home of Andy, Barney and Aunt Bea? We had looked in Tennessee, south of Knoxville. I liked it, but my wife didn't and I've learned to trust her instincts. We've heard good things about the Greenville SC area, and Aiken too but you're familiar. It's my understanding that you'll get weather in the upstate as it's called. That may be a shock to your California system. We had a Florida place for a while, but with family still in NY, it's too far. Best of luck to you and family.
  8. John, Didn't you visit us here in South Carolina recently? Sounds like your body is stuck in the Eastern Time Zone! Unplug yourself for 30 seconds and then plug yourself back in to reset.
  9. Great words Super Bowl Sunday from a Marine Corps Colonel in Afghanistan: "So with all the kindness I can muster, I give this one piece of advice to the next pop star who is asked to sing the national anthem at a sporting event: save the vocal gymnastics and the physical gyrations for your concerts. Just sing this song the way you were taught to sing it in kindergarten - straight up, no styling "Sing it with the constant awareness that there are soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines watching you from bases and outposts all over the world. Don't make them cringe with your self-centered ego gratification. Sing it as if you are standing before a row of 96-year-old WWII vets wearing their Purple Hearts, Silver Stars and flag pins on their cardigans and you want them to be proud of you for honoring them and the country they love - not because you want them to think you are a superstar musician. They could see that from your costume, makeup and your entourage. Sing 'The Star Spangled Banner' with the courtesy and humility that tells the audience that it is about America, not you. And please not everything needs to be spunked up! We’re getting a little weary of that. Francis Scott Key does not need any help." Semper Fi
