  1. I don't see the advantage to having a Flatmaster...
  2. You carried more than I use at the furniture company...
  3. You can add suction to the bottom. I added a 4" with the 1.5.
  4. Don't get me wrong on these saws y'all. I don't care which one a woodworker buys. Many buy by color and name. I'm not committed to any color or brand, I try to look at things after brand and color..Needs and wants, that's how I judge a value... I want a Milwaukee shop I wasn't a Bosch shop I want a Dewalt shop. I want a Makita shop Billyjack wants a copper shop made from penny's on a dollar shop tools I don't need a purdy shop, I don't need purdy tools, I just need to create purdy things from it..
  5. I had 24' of room between the saw and bench. The slider made it 15'". I have to move my bench out about 9". You'll need Deven more with a 12". I keep thinking it wa a 33" in depth..
  6. To get an idea of what I'm doing here.
  7. It has a lot to do with use. Each time I put it in a preset, I have to lock it. Not so much on a simple miter, but when using the sliding action. I've got a Makita LS1000 with notches and is a great sw. We used one at the cabinet shop for installation and was great for cutting crown, when the shop upgraded to a newer Makita, they no longer offered the notch but a bearing. I had to lock it each time I cut crown at a angle. A real PITA
  8. Here's what I've noticed on forums about these saws over the years. Everyone said Bosch at one time. Here nothing now. In the day Dewalt was king. Lately all I hear is less than. Milwaukee is generally the price. Makita made changes sinse the 90's I'm not fond of . They make some great tools and some not so great, but that's all manufactures.
  9. Notice when you move it to say 22.5 it will wiggle in the slot?
  10. Problem with miter saw set ups is length.
  11. Here is another from 2005... Dewalt 708 with notches. Took no time to move and cut. No fiddling around. Positive lock.
  12. Here is the current radius with tge 10" Makita slider., cuts great, but because of the bearing I have to fiddle with degrees the entire radius.
  13. Makita does make some good products , but like each manufacturer, they will do something different. Bearing locks are no good for long term , plus you have to lock it to keep it. Over time dust gets on the bearings and they don't automatically lock in the correct position.
  14. It's always been a difference of opinion for what a sliding miter saw is for. #1... rough cuts #2... trim cuts $3... furniture cuts..
  15. I would check Marketplace, pawn shops, etc. For a sweet deal. Sometimes there like new for a savings..
  16. What's the old saying? " Bigger isn't always better, it's how you use it" Few things to keep in mind. #1...Notches for the settings. #2...height and operation of the rear fence... #3... will this be mobile and weight.. #.4 if in a bench how deep will it have to be? Check these things put as you look at saws.
  17. I'm a little different. I have the 12 Dewalt 708. Great saw. I'm hearing there not as good as they once was. I bought a Makita 10" slider and put it in my bench. Unless you want the height, a 10" is fine. Also remember the bigger the saw the more movement.. Nachos, I mean notches are good, bearing not so good for accurate settings.
  18. I took the faceframe and cut them to useable parts. I cut, planed and sized the verticals for dados. I would much rather dado one board , but this is a recycle job, so I'll tape and dado at one tine.
  19. I'm within a 32nd or less on 4".I can get by and have to make due at this point.so warped or twisted piece of PB, it will take a bit of time to correct. Like solid wood , it must be corrected slowly , so it wants to versus forced.
  20. As you can see it's not much, but enough to irritate me.
  21. Before it gets that cold, it's a good tkne to clean and check filters. Easier now before the snow. Cleaned the heater and above head air cleaner. Winds blowing hard enough to suck all the dust away from the shop..
  22. After about 7-8 years of not using the RAS, the top it’s a bit out of shape. Menards want roughly $35 for 3/4 PB and Around a $100 for 3/4 MDO.. I haven’t bought PB in many years and it was $17-$18 back then…Guess I’ll just have to make that top flat again..
