  1. Glad you like it, Dave! Let me know how you like the video, please sir.
  2. In my effort to make a handful of videos using my new favorite video editing software, DaVinci Resolve, I thought one on building this passive speaker would be appropriate. So even though this thread is close to three years old it's probably better to have the video here than create a new thread (even though with a new thread it will likely be seen more - oh, well...). This is a short video, a little over 7 minutes long - (for some reason the video won't display)
  3. Thank you! His is actually stuck to the wall with double-stick tape so it's always by his bedside. He's autistic and this helps calm him while he's trying to get to sleep. I'm afraid a marble would have the opposite effect on him. Cool idea with kids sitting around it and playing a marble game, though. Thank you! I'm having fun making these videos!
  4. A friend asked me to make a finger labyrinth for his son and I was all in from the get-go. I chose Maple, drew the design in CorelDraw, exported it as an svg, the brought it info Fusion 360 for the CAD/CAM work. It cut nicely and came out pretty good; they were pleased with it. Very short video on making this -
  5. Thanks so much, guys! Making the videos is fun, probably make some more on other completed projects. And I have new projects up and coming so I'll make videos on those, as well.
  6. Resurrecting an older thread to update with a video on making this sign -
  7. Thanks so much, John!! I'm glad you like the videos and the way they are produced; I have fun making them. It is frustrating to have only a whisper right now but hopefully that will be cleared up soon. No illness but rather taking some meds to clear up a persistent cough and the meds took away my voice as well - ugh! Your faux rocks look fantastic, look like real rocks and boulders. Hopefully ours was a one-shot build but it was still fun. It had to have significant weight in order for the cross to be stable so lightweight wasn't what I wanted. But if I ever have to build more I will definitely use your technique!
  8. Thanks, Cal! We're pleased with how it came out, fun project.
  9. Thanks so much, Dave!! I felt truly honored to be involved in the build for this cross. Glad you like it and the video!
  10. Thanks, Lew! It was a long build but fun all the way.
  11. We finished this project a few years ago and I finally made a video about it. The cross stands 9' tall and weighs 35 lbs., the faux rock base weighs 70 lbs. Seems like many of my projects involve Curly Maple and Walnut, maybe because the woods are so gorgeous. Building the faux rock was something new for me but it came out looking like a rock so I can't ask for much more than that.
  12. I posted photos of this build in July last year but for the full build video I'll just post it here rather than revive an older thread. It's a beautiful piece with the Curly Maple and Purpleheart; the video is 23 minutes long and has chapters if you want to go to certain sections. Enjoy!
  13. I built the Media Stand and posted it here along with an in depth, full length video of the build (53 minutes). The part that interested most folks is the section on making the books for the bottom shelf and I've been asked to make a separate video on just that portion, so this video is really a freshly made subset of that video with additional footage. This video is only about 12 minutes long and since I have virtually no voice right now there is no voiceover, just typed descriptions on the screen.
  14. I replaced the bearings not too long ago along with most of the components associated with that part of the saw, including a matched set of three belts. As for the slot width I cut it that way when I made the sled and I was playing with getting the guide runners locked down. It's not wider because the blade is wobbling because it doesn't wobble or flex at speed. Nice try, though. I think what you're seeing may be a function of the phone camera and the room lighting. In either case, nothing is wrong with the saw or the blade or the arbor or the bearings; the saw with this blade cuts just fine and is very precise. I've heard from more than a dozen people that their saws do the same thing with a thin kerf blade because it's just flexing under the startup load. I just thought it was interesting enough to video and share here.
  15. This is a PM66 that I bought new in 1990 and fully restored a few years ago (made the mistake of loaning it to a 'friend' who left it in a building where rainwater poured on it for over a year - well rusted!). The arbor, bearings, matched set of three belts, etc. were all replaced. It is a very smooth saw with no noticeable vibration.
  16. Could be, Gerald, could be. I know that it only takes about one second to reach full speed and the flex/wobble is gone at that point. Now, if my tablesaw begins hovering...
  17. Thanks, Dave! Yes, it's a thin kerf blade that is just flexing at startup and I probably should have called it flexing rather than wobble. I don't have a thicker blade or I would have done a comparison. The current setup looks great with a dial indicator, fwiw.
  18. Yes sir, it's not affecting anything at all. It was a topic on another forum and I found it interesting so I made the video and shared it here.
  19. This is a topic that came up recently with some other woodworkers so I thought I'd shoot a short video to see just how much my blade wobbles at startup. Turns out it's fairly slight and is over in about one second. The video is less than two minutes if you're interested in watching.
  20. Thanks for the mention and compliments, John! It was definitely a fun project.
  21. Thank you!! It may have been a long project timeframe, but it was a blast all the way.
