A wonderful project, I highly recommend anyone to build these chairs, suitable for most skill levels. The weaving in this seat was considerably more challenging than the square stools I weaved. The trapezoidal shape of the seat created some interesting challenges, but I got through them.

Made the top shelves in two pieces out of the same 3/4" Baltic birch.  They fit too!! Yay!  Cut 1/4" strips off maple 1 x 6 boards for the shelf edges.  Used the rest for the face trim.  Probably a little overkill on it, but what the heck.

Found a cut off piece of granite.  Not easy when you need a piece 26 x 102".  Took 3 guys to carry it in and set it.

I can't make doors.  I don't want to make doors.  So I ordered these from Cabinetnow.com in CA.  Solid maple and very very good quality, imo.  2nd time I've ordered from them.  They were here long before I was ready for them.  Great packaging.  But they are big and plain.

So I tried to "liven" them up a little.  I took a chance doing this, and at $100+ a door I didn't want to ruin any.  They were over an inch thick and carved great.  The couple little oops I was able to cover up.  Sign of a good woodworker?

Figured I'd break things up using the deer on the outer doors.  These came off without a hitch and carved right up rather nicely.  I almost knew what I was doing at this point.   This was super material to work with.

Mama didn't waste any time filling them up and throwing away the 3 pressboard cases she was using (they're in the shop with stuff on them).  I think she added some stuff too.  Not too shabby for a design as you go project I don't think

Stained the doors up, sprayed them with gloss lacquer, and hung with Blum soft close hinges.  Stained and polyed the rest of the unit.

By rearranging the models you can up with something like this.  Same 24x20 piece of 1" pine panel

These are quite popular with spouses, parents, and kids.  If I hear a child who sees and admires it, I'll just give them one to give as a gift to their Dad.
