I am just being the devil's advocate here, but how do we really know there has not been a correct answer? If no one knows what the tool is, then someone could have had a correct answer already and we just do not know it...

Yes, please do - my uncle got his hand cut up by one pretty bad one time- of course it could have been the fact that the other hand/arm was in a cast or the chair seat he was shaping was clamped to a metal stool, or he did not have the guard on the angle grinder. OR, it was a combination of ALL 3

I was pretty impressed with the first one, but when you showed the chalice sitting on the key - HOLY SMOKES!!

Can you call an item that small a chalice? I always thought, although maybe incorrectly, that chalices are large.

I can feel your pain, but here is a question for all of you => When you are looking for something and then tell someone that it was in the last place you looked, did you keep looking after you found what you were looking for?

That is a pet peeve of mine. I mean really, of course you found it in the last place you looked. 99% stop looking once they find what they were looking for.

Some of here are beginners, others are pros, while others are in between. As we started woodworking we probably all followed a set of plans drawn up by someone. As our skills increase, we probably all rely less and less on plans than we once did. Thst being said, there are some of us that have a lot of artist in our brian and may not have needed plans even when you started woodworking. It is all about skill (native and/or learned) and comfort level. It is not right/wrong or indifferent, it is just who we are.
I do like plans, although I usually modify them somehow, because I do not have the time and or desire to sit down and start from scratch, although on certain shop projects I have stated from scratch with just a rough sketch.

So there is no right or wrong answer here, it is just what each of us likes, is comfortable with, and where we draw our inspirations from

I am usually the same - I use plans, but always seem to make modifications somehow, somewhere. For me, plans are a HUGE time savings and as my skills improve, I will be able to rely less and less on plans made by someone else and more of my own. I guess that is the engineer in me - I like to follow a plan. Also, when I can't get into the shop for a while, it is easier to remember where I left off.

I just have 2 basic questions - 1: Will the product you are cutting stay on the board or will it roll off? 2: Isn't this board a safety hazard? Won't is mess with your depth perception and you take a chance of cutting yourself instead of what you intended to cut? Curious mind here...

This makes a lot of sense with all of that equipment there. I do not really know what it is, but I can only imagine what would happen is something was left in the machine, similar to the airplane mechanic. This is a quick "Did I pick up everything?" check

This is so true - and for the situational awareness, that is not just around the shop or home, but EVERYWHERE you go. Be aware of your surroundings and who and what are around you.
